I do all of the oil changes on all of our vehicles. I plan to change the factory oil on our new 20 JLR at about 1000 miles. Not because I think the factory uses bad oil, but because the initial fill washes out any small particals or debris from the manufacturing process. Back in the day, it was called break-in oil. I know they say this no longer necessary, but I will do it anyway for peace of mind.

I use Amsoil Signature series oil and Amsoil filters on everything we own, and this will be no different.

I ended up doing my first oil change at 3300 miles (2.0T JL).

Judging by the color of the oil, I say it was at about it's 50% life cycle. I've done countless oil changes and I always change mine when the oil life has between 25-30 life remaining(on a daily driver).

On my 99 Yukon (OBS) I do the oil changes every 3k (normal oil), currently at 222k
On my 04 Colorado (racetruck, owned since new) I do the the oil change every 5k (Royal Purple), currently at 128k

Actually my question was specifically on the oil put in by factory on the 2.0Ls.

Would this oil highlighted below is probably synthetic too?

The factory oil was said to likely be Pennzoil Platinum 5W30

Interesting Amsoil has no recommended products for this engine. I assume because they don't contain the Chrysler designation everyone speaks about.

SN+ is what is needed by Jeep and the Amsoil Signature is. It’s more than qualified to run in these engines.

You beat me to it. Yes, Amsoil is SN+, but not MS13340. That's why Amsoil has no recommended oil on their site. I actually emailed them about this. I have no idea if they tested it to that standard and failed, or failed to test it to that standard. My guess is the latter.

I also agree that Amsoil is more than qualified for the 2.0.

Contacted Mobil regarding Mobil 1 for the turbo 2.0. Warranty requirement is MS-13340. They told me they had no oil that met the warranty requirement at this time. Contacted Castrol regarding Syntec. They told me none of their oils met the warranty requirement at this time. Another member contacted me regarding Royal Purple. My memory was it dud not meet the MS-13340. Contacted them and had a prompt reply. Royal Purple does not offer a product that meets the warranty requirement. The only oil I have found that does is Pennzoil Platinum. They even have a badge on the front that says redesigned to meet turbo requirements. The back of the bottle states meets MS-13340. HOPE THIS HELPS. 2.0 REQUIRES 5 QUARTS. MANY DEALERS ERONEOUSLY INSTALL 6 QUARTS. I HAD TO EDUCATE MY DEALER ON THE MS-13340. Hard to believe but true. They had no oil on hand that mett warranty requirements. Brought my own Pennzoil

I posted this on the oil filter thread earlier.
There is an addendum to MS-13340 states any API SN PLUS is acceptable.
