Yesterday I lost my Uncle, a Korean War Vet, Radio Operator and repair on a God For I’d hill top overseeing North Korea. This man was a father to me and taught me many things over the years. He was a Lineman for the local Utilities and knew his stuff when it came to electricity. We both served our country in the USAF. He did 4 years while I made a career out of it for 24 years.

So today, the day after his death, I installed these American Flags on the Jeep that I love.
If you feel it, raise a glass in his memory over the 4th of July.

My Cousin and I are in the stages of planning his funeral right now. So many things are going well in regard to this.

My Uncle was part of the Local Patriot Guard. We just got confirmation today that they will be there for him. Great News!

My Cousin will be riding his Harley Trike and he will be carried in the trunk for Charlie’s Final Ride. My oldest grand daughter will be on the seat, she was one of my Uncles favorite riding partners. I have a picture of the two of them I’ll include here.

Thanks Flip.

As an interesting side note, my Aunt, Charlie’s sister served at Aberdeen Proving Grounds during WWII. She actually tested the first GPW Bantems and the Ford GPW back then. One of the first women to drive a Jeep. She married a Marine Sgt, that was field promoted to LT, and then stayed active from WWII through to Vietnam, retiring as a LtCol. On my mothers side we had a Brother in Law that served and flew with the Flying Tigers, that I didn’t find out about until his death. I wish I could have heard some of his stories. The pic of the F-16 was Desert Storm, and those guys are part of the shop I supervised during that time. That is me on the fuel tank.

This really hits home for me. My grandfather was also in WWII, he served on the USS Bradford, The only story he ever told about the war: The USS Bradford's sister ship had been shelled and was sinking. The USS Bradford assisted in rescuing/pulling survivors from the water. He said he pulled a lot soldiers out of the water with missing limbs. After the war my grandfather drank for awhile to cope with the pain. He became a born again Christian and never touched a drop of alcohol for the rest of his life. He is dearly missed.

Thank you sharing your story, it's damn good to meet you and the brave members of your family.

My Grandfather was one of the 6Vets from WW2 that did the traveling TAPS and gun salute. Since he has passed but he did it free and with honor. We need to see more of this. We need to write our states and city members to install Vet parking in all public lots with green placards, we need to abolish DMV reg fees for all Vets, we need to publicly thank them for everything
