What is your oil of choice and if you use OEM filter or other brand?

Think I'm going to skip the free Jeep waves and use Mobil-1 Extended Performance 0W-20 and stick with using OEM filters (v6/eTorque). No particular reason. Used the regular Mobil-1 full synth and OEM filters for my last vehicle and had 0 trouble for the 100k miles I put on it. So hopefully it's a lucky combo for me ?

I’d Rather Talk Jeep’s!
Anything synthetic (usually synthetic).

I’ve come to love the Fumoto Oil Drain valve and have used them on three vehicles now. It’s a bit slow to drain, but while it’s draining I get up and get my funnel ready, get my oil caps unscrewed, and change the filter and then it’s pretty much ready to close the valve and top if off.

This is the combo I use on my 22 XR with the 3.6..Mobil 1 EP 0W-20 with Mopar oil filter.

Skip the Jeep wave horseshit and do it yourself.

Pennzoil Platinum, I’ve been putting in everything for well over a decade. Never had any internal engine issues. From a 6.8 V10 Ford to a Mazda 2.0 and everything in between.

I was using Wix/Napa Gold filters for a long time until I got turned on to Fram Ultra in BITOG reviews.

I have a 3.6 ESS. I’ve been using PP 5w30 in it since new. I get zero benefit from 0w here in South Texas. I prefer 30 for the extra bit of quietness and the 100 plus days in the summer. I’ve always switched my 20 weight oils to 30 over the years and have had zero issues. I wont recommend it because it’s not what Jeep recommends in the US. Do your own research if you plan to use a different weight of oil.

I change my oil at 7500 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. I ignore the OLM, as I’m not good with pushing oil to 9-10k miles. I keep most of my vehicles for years and at least 100k miles.

The 3.6 is the easiest oil change you will do on a modern passenger vehicle.

Very tempted to give 5W 30 a shot.

I've never been opposed to free services from the dealership like synthetic oil changes and tire rotations, especially when they are charging close to $150 these days for said service....although i do check to make sure they changed the filter
I think it is actually a good idea to establish a relationship with the local service dept...I've already had a warranty issue with the rear locker sensor where they ended up just replacing the entire rear diff and feel very comfrotable with the work they do...but, now that the free ride is over, I will do my own oil changes and just have the tires rotated at Discount Tire since I got my wheels and tires from them and they offer that service free of charge.

One 5-quart jug of Pennzoil Platinum and a MOPAR filter every oil change. Cheap, easy, and my 3.6L eTorque doesn't seem to complain!

I use pennzoil also in my jeep, they do run lots of promotions which can be combined on top of already sale prices of the retail store which is nice, mopar oem filter simple cause if any issues arise and trying to put a warranty claim in I wouldn’t want to deal with any dispute over not using oem parts, always keep receipts and document your oil changes that you made, I try to stick to 7,500 miles oil change cycle on my 3.0 diesel but depending on my driving I’ve done sooner also, regardless of brand go full synthetic oil

3.6 eTorque. Castrol Edge with Mopar filter. The only oil I found on the shelf with Chrysler certification for Jeep.

Mobile one is an excellent oil as well. I used it for my other street and track cars for many years.

Oil and filters:
I've used Castrol Edge, Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Platinum, all synthetic 5W-30 API SP/GF-6A. Filters are either Mopar MO-339 or Mobil 1 M1-113. These are the brands that are recurringly on sale at Advance Auto for $38ish for the oil & filter combo. Used oil samples are submitted to Blackstone for analysis, so as to monitor the health of the engine.

Tips:
I use and recommend the Fumoto oil drain valve. Note that your Wrangler's use case may compel the installation of a skid plate to protect the valve. This may in turn compel removing the skid plate at each oil change interval, unless it provides an accommodation to easily access the drain valve or drain plug.

Frequency/engine:
Every 6K miles on my 2.0T.

Jeep Wrangler JL What's your go to engine oil for your Jeep? Fumoto
