Apparently, oceanblue, your definition of choice is different from mine, more like submission.
Name one honest and fair car manufacture. You can't as none exist. All crooks, but we love to drive so what choice do we have?

If you want a JL unfortunately you need to deal with FCA, which is interestingly a marriage of the most corrupt country in Western Europe (Italy) with France which is going down the socialist toilet really fast. Marriage made in heaven.

As for choice versus submission...choosing not to get a Wrangler because of principle might make you feel better for a few moments, but in the end,
you'll miss out on a lot of fun wheeling!
Appreciate you having my best interests at heart. Thank you, but in my advanced age and experience I've never regretted postponing a decision which causes me to itch.

Been wheeling 40 years enough time to draw a line knowing the difference between good sense and submission.

I went thru that surprise overnight price hike when I was in the process of buying. I had gotten web prices the night before.....and suddenly the dealership wanted about $600 more for the select options. I got the deal done.....but I was dumfounded and more than a little PO'd that Jeep would do this AND NOT TELL THEIR DEALERS. I can get hung up on principals.....but the dealer finally came to my number and I did not want to shop through another dealer. I am better with them now that I know what happened but at the time I thought the dealer was playing games.

I'm glad I did not let a few hono get in the way of my purchase......and I got a pretty fair discount on an ordered unit.

All of these manufacturers need to turn a profit. But sometimes their business practices are suspect. (in this case).

I'm looking at the ZR2 Colorado. Yeah, I know, "no lockers, solid front axle, convertible roof" etc, etc. I just need a reliable daily driver with four wheel drive. The ZR2 is cheaper and I'm really tired of FCA's games. I have a 2000 ZR2 Blazer that I bought new and 20 years later it's still going. The only time that truck has ever stranded me was with a dead battery.
The ZR2 has front and rear lockers. I had one with the baby duramax in it, and the power train was phenomenal, but like others have said, the interior is awful. Also I am curious about having to order the active safety group? I ordered a diesel Rubi on the 27th of December and the only thing that was forced on me was the keyless entry crap. I did not order the active safety group nor was I forced to order it.

You got me beat - I've been wheeling for 39. And there are those who tell me I have little if any good sense. But in the interests of enjoying what little time I likely have left on this earth, I choose submission to FCA I suppose. After all, you can't take it with you when you go...!

I bet you end up liking/ appreciating the proximity entry. Can't wait for feedback from you about your diesel, congrats!
