So I was searching for some JL stuff on the old InterWebs and I came across this website-

https://www.asburyauto.com/compare/2018-honda-cr-v-vs-2018-jeep-wrangler-jl/152851

I guess this dealer thinks there are people cross shopping CRV's and JL's? How does that conversation go? I do not know if I want a boring SUV with great gas mileage or the most capable 4x4 ever made? Do you run a pros and cons list?

Anyways I never did find my article but I had a good laugh about this.

Wait so you’re telling me the CRV is better in every aspect?! I need to reconsider my decision making because clearly the CRV is superior.

Jeep Wrangler JL CRV VS JL? om

And how many times is CR-V written compared to JL :cwl:

It’s also superior for two homeless guys turning it into a borrowed F-shack and leaving a giant steaming pile of tightly coiled regretful purchase decisions on the seat

I would like to know if this has or ever will convince anyone to buy a CRV over a JL. This site might as well do some more comparisons.

Honda Ridgeline VS Ford F350
Honda Insight vs Tesla S 100D
Honda Civic Vs Nissan GTR
Honda Pilot Vs H1 Hummer

I think these would be helpful for people on the fence between these cars.

Hondas are great but I f8nd most people that own them get excited about "pretty good gas mimeage" or that it is "cheaper than an xxxxx." Never seems flat out better at anything or have a specific draw. Again, great but I don't like to have car conversations that go like "I've driven this 8 years without even changing brake pads." To each their own though!

Hondas are great at bang for the buck and I like their engineering choices. If I wasn't going Jeep, I'd be shopping Hondas.

Probably true of most Hondas, but holy cow - Element owners freaking LOVE those things. I should know, I was one :)

Noted, but the S2000 is an exception. 9000 RPM redline? Best 6MT ever made? Terrifying snap oversteer? check, check, check.

The new Civic Type R is apparently a hoot to drive, but I can't get over the styling. It looks like it has every exterior accessory in the Pep Boys catalog.

2004 Honda Accord coupe, V6 6-speed manual; ordered 2018 JL Sport 6MT with A/C and anti-spin. D status.

This. Many Honda bashers are armchair auto enthusiasts that don't know much about the company and want a cheap laugh. Similar to those that dismiss the Miata as "chick car", ignoring that it's probably a superior sports car to whatever they're driving.

The S2000 was great and it's a shame it had to go. Today, Honda is one of very few American or Japanese brands still widely offering manual transmissions--something not to be ignored. The new Civic Si is the best sporty car in its price range, with a crisp 6 speed and LSD in a $24,000 package. Amazing value. The aforementioned Type R, while god-awful-ugly, is a track king, and the logical conclusion to how good FWD can be.

They made 6 speed V6 Accords for 14 years; I've owned two. 14 second quarter miles, a wonderful sound, and again some of the best manual transmissions available anywhere.

The new 2018 Accord with the larger 2.0T engine can still be had with a 6 speed manual.

For drivers cars, Honda isn't the best brand to pick on. There's plenty others that produce nothing very interesting to drive.

Agreed on all counts, except I think the Civic Si doesn't seem like such a great deal next the GTI (what I currently drive), at least not at actual "street" prices. GTIs routinely sell for $6k+ below MSRP, so the street price for a GTI Sport last year was about the same as a Civic Si. And the GTI has a more upscale interior, way more power/torque, and a more sophisticated electromechanical diff. Not to mention that the Si isn't even available as a hatch. With a switch from rubber->aftermarket metal shift bushings, I actually think the 6MT in the GTI is just as good as the Si (neither holds a candle to the S2k's 'rifle bolt' 6MT though).

Total cost of ownership definitely favors the Civic though, as GTIs are brutal on the depreciation front (probably thanks to those $6k+ discounts).

I'd agree and further that Honda should make more interesting cars because they would be good at it. S2000 and I'll give them credit for the NSX :) S2000 is not necessarily powerful or fast, but is known to be fun to drive.

Averages exist for a reason, they just aren't always exciting. Speaking of average cars, the comments here support how extreme some are about how great a completely average vehicle is:
