What are you non-rubicon guys doing about mounting a 35" spare? I don't think I'll ever go to a larger tire. I don't like the idea of spending $600+ on the reinforced mount unless necessary. I think the cheap brackets raise the tire up too much. That leaves the Teraflex Alpha and it's $300. Any other options I'm not aware of?

I did the Rough Country and it's really nice. I don't have a 35, I have a 34, but it still is a good unit.

How high is the spare off the bumper? I would like to keep it as low as possible to not block the window.

It’s fairly high. You lose quite a bit of the rear window.

This actually has nothing to do with Rubicon vs. Non-Rubicon. The gates and hinges are the same and technically speaking you can mount a 35" tire back there with a stock bumper. I wouldn't recommend that though I'd at least get a hinge reinforcement kit and possibly a tire relocation mount to move the tire up.
We put a high clearance bumper on and had to move the spare tire up just for a 33" tire.

I'm not sure this is true. From what I see on here, 35 fit on the back of rubicons. Either the bumper or mount must be different.

Maybe the bumpers but I highly doubt it. The tailgate, tire mount and hinges are identical across all models. I find it hard to believe that the plastic Rubi bumper would be different from the plastic Sport or Sahara bumpers.

The Rubi plastic is slightly different, bigger cut out for a 35 to fit and the sides come up a bit higher to meet with the higher mount fenders

@jdhunt0 I run the RC one, nice quality for a fair price, but it does sit high. My buddy runs Rustys, little more in price but sits lower and has a mount for a CB antenna

You learn something new every day :)
We are running the RC one as well. Simple and well built but it does lift that sucker up. We like that though because there may be a day in the future where a 37 will sit there.

Haha yep! There’s so much more parts variants with the JL platform compared to the JK, no wonder the price jump lol

It does sit high eh, I’m technically illegal with it when doorless and no side mirror because Ontario HTA states I only need the rear view with a clear unobstructed view. Top down and with RC bracket, I can’t see crap behind me hahaha

I bet. We have a 33 on there and it's limited, 35s will be next and with the headrests up it will be useless out the back. We are required to have driver's side view only. These things are so beefy especially when built up that it's really best to have both mirrors to be safe.
Wait, how can you even have your doors and top off up in Frog Land? Isn't it always snowing ;)

Any of you guys install a rubicon sway bar on your sport or Sahara? I’m getting one from another member here. Thinking of wiring it to an aux switch
