Driven for 4 days, soft top came installed from the factory, noticed the most irritating rattle from the passenger side.

Realized it's the main soft top bar (with the joint for the sun rider function). There is a bit of slack in the bar, and I can move it with my hand from side to side, which reproduces the rattle.

Did some searching, but no one else seems to have found that bar to be the culprit. Am I the only one??

I folded the sun rider back and then put it back on again, still rattles. Really hate to go through the headache of going back to the dealer again to try and explain the level of psychological torture I am enduring from this freaking rattle.

Hi curtise,
We understand why this may be frustrating. Although you do not want to go to the dealer at this time, if you change your mind in the future, we are always available via private message to offer assistance!

Update: isolated the source of the sound to the sliding mechanism rattling within the rail (plastic passenger rear door frame).

There is just enough slack for it to move horizontally back and forth within the rail, and it rattles like crazy. Tried to tighten all of the bolts on the door frame, but they're already tight.

I suspect the answer will be to run by the dealer, but perhaps not to have it looked at.

Check another JL and see if the same piece rattles.

If it doesn't, yours can be fixed.

If it does, you'll have to find a solution yourself.

I think this is where mine is rattling too but I haven't had time to mess with it yet. Is it possible to stuff foam or something in there as a short term fix?

Any updates on this????

Try using tape or like a felt sticker... Eliminate the plastic on plastic or metal on metal contact

Update: I have isolated the rattle to the sliding mechanism that rolls inside of the gliding brackets /channels. The passenger one rattles when the top is fully closed, and the driver side rattles when the top is dropped. Sunrider position, no rattle from either.

Agreed. Too much side-to-side play between the little wheels and the tracks. The hard plastic on plastic movement makes a racket ...

FIXED. I simply wrapped the little wheels in black electrical tape. Trimmed the tape on the back side of the wheels so they can turn freely. I left tape on the face of the wheels to take up some space between the wheel and the track.. Honestly, I was amazed how quiet it is now.

I'll see how it wears over the next month and might just leave well enough alone. Or I could take the tape off and try a rubber paint on coating ...

How is the electrical tape working out for you? Is it still holding up? Any rattles?

Subbed, I have the same rattle but I’ve just been ignoring it. If this electrical tape on the wheels works though....

Just fine!
But - I leave the top up or down for a month at a time, so I am not putting much roller wear on the tape. Would love the wheels to be made of the rubber used on roller skates.

I have the same issue with mine. As near as I can tell, there is a spring inside a housing that the wheel is supposed to push up against at the end of the rail. On one side i have the spring with good resistance and there are no problems, on the other side the spring somehow disappeared (???) and that side is the one rattling. I will probably just take it to the dealer and walk them through it step by step (since they couldn't find it on their own) Annoying, but not shocking as I put the top up/down quite a bit.
