Jumper cables, gloves, and a leatherman I can understand carrying in the Jeep. But if you're just driving around town.... why all the extra?

I've started carrying Noco GB40 booster packs in my vehicles instead of jumper cables. They are handy for those late night, or off the beaten path moments, when there is nobody around to boost you.

Ideally, it would be best to have cables as well, in case there is an issue with the booster pack, but I don't carry that level of redundancy personally.

I dont offroad, so I do travel light. There's a phone/tablet charger in the dash socket. My phone has numbers for AAA and Jeep Roadside Assistance. The cupholder has binoculars, folding knife, and mini Maglite. There's a 7" tablet in the glovebox. The rear footwell holds a GI canvas toolbag with wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, tape, bigger flashlight, bigger knife, etc etc. The underfloor compartment has jumpers, tow strap, tire inflator/plugger, and GI e-tool. Since I only drive to and from town, this seems adequate to me. I dont need a bugout bag, because where I live is pretty much where other people bug out to.

Edit. I forgot...I keep a small bolt cutter in there too.

So I’m guessing y’all have hard tops mainly to constantly carry or do you have extra locking storage somewhere?

I carry most of that stuff and then some when traveling or going out on the trail. I do not carry that stuff for driving around town. I have roadside assistance and a great circle of friends if I need help locally.

Unfortunately, it’s been demonstrated that booster packs don’t work on the JL.

I have a 2dr soft top. My back seat actually gets used, so it stays put. That means I only have room to carry the essentials: sunglasses and a pack of gum.
