This is probably the closest SUV model to the Sahara / Rubicon

I guess 50K is the new normal.

Fun factor is 2x on a Wrangler

Pretty much stacks up to a Sahara with a couple options, yep.

Stone cold reliability or stone cold fun, pick one :)

It's hard to accept it, but the base 2 door is technically a good deal these days.

I have a Tundra and a Sienna very reliable but I am tired of the Toyota looks on that 4 runner the shape of the headlights the grill all look like too many other things on the road. I think that Jeep sure got it right on the looks of the JL Improving over the former JK where I think most autos the looks are regressing over their previous models. I think JL blows away anything currently being made in looks an style. I just hope it proves to be decently reliable.

I hate all the new Toyota styling with the huge gaping plastic grille "mouth". I couldn't look at that ugly face every day much less shell out 48 grand for that.

That does help. But this doesn't:

I don't know that looks like one of those little Honda cars with range rover photo shopped on it. Looks horrible.

The Discovery Sport is cheaper and has a 2.0t standard.

See if that 4Runner or Velar do this?!?

There's a lot of nonstop jeep pole-smoking on this forum.

To everyone that keeps posting a variation of this: we are all aware that the Jeep Wrangler, in Rubicon trim, is the most offroad capable suv on the market, and very likely ever offered by a major manufacturer.

The things that compromise its road manners lead to this.

As such a 4Runner is a better daily driver if you just want a less flashy non convertible suv. That IFS, among other things, leads to superior road handling and comfort. Tradeoffs.

Sure we may be a little biased here (just a little) but what the hell do you expect? Get same on 4Runner, Ford, Chevy, etc, etc... forums. I agree that Wrangler fans love what the Wrangler can do, thus live with the trade offs. If people are going to post other vehicles that cost the same as the Wrangler as a comparison then what, are we just comparing which is best to get road head in or compare everything?!?

I suppose thats why I am into Wranglers. I rather pay $50K for something I can point and go anywhere. Not just something I can feel warm and fuzzy commuting in. And yeah, any girl that can give good road head in a Wrangler is a keeper!!!

The 4Runner, like most other vehicles, are getting bigger and bigger with each generation. I was contemplating on getting one and even rented one for a week. I decided it was too large for me and what I wanted/needed. I am now waiting (not very patiently) for the 2-door JL.

4runners are real boats too. The older ones were better.
Ill vouch for that. My 87 4Runner was, wait for it, a convertible! Lol

And absolutely tough as nails. Toyota got weak with independent front suspension, but holy hell it's nearly impossible to break a Toyota rear axle.

My biggest 4Runner complaint is that they're still selling the same 4Runner since 2010. That's the kind of shit I only let the Wrangler get away with :)

I also had an '89 back in my college days, but unfortunately, I purchased it without having a mechanic check it out and found out it had a bad clutch. Other than that, it was a fun vehicle. I really enjoyed driving up into the hills above Utah Valley when I could and getting away from the hustle and bustle of everything.
