Finally got my wheel done.... I really like these dirty life wheels, but didn’t really like the all black, with yellow zinc plated bolts. So I primed and painted the rings, and got some stainless bolts and washers......

Just finished! I had my dash painted and a new dash pad installed

. I ordered my rubicon with cloth and had custom leather installed, so I didn't get the leather dash (with red stitch) so I ordered one. I'm so happy with the new color scheme.

Where did you get the leather dash? I would like to do the same..

I installed the new Teraflex adjustable spare tire carrier.
After swapping my stock wheels for the KMC XD 137FMJs a couple weeks ago, I didn’t like the way the tailgate felt when closing it. It just wasn’t closing as solidly as it did with the stock wheels. I have been running BFG 35x12.50 KM3s on the optional Rubicon wheels, as that was the way the dealer set up the rig; along with the Mopar 2” lift. I should note that my Jeep also came with the Mopar tailgate reinforcement bracket.
I did the now-standard bump stop mod with PVC pipe and rubber chair leg feet, but even that didn’t firm up the tailgate closing feel that I was looking for.
The new wheels have more offset which resulted in the tire/wheel assembly being ~1-1/2” further aft of the tailgate. That difference coupled with the soft but stops left the tire feeling a bit sloppy when closing the tailgate. And a rather large gap between the tire and the tailgate.
As I was researching an alternative tire carrier I found the Teraflex carrier, and it seemed to hit on all the concerns I had.
I’m happy to report that it was a very straightforward installation the the results are exactly what I was looking for.
The tire/wheel is even closer to the tailgate than the stock setup was. And now the tailgate has none of the twist and bounce that I had with the aftermarket wheel setup. The tire position is slightly lower, and the brake is moved, which results even better visibility out the rear window. It’s almost, dare I say it, car-like!

Here’s a tip if you decide you wanna do this installation....
I was concerned about scratching up, the new camera tube so I found a scrap of 2” ABS pipe that perfectly fit over the camera tube and allowed the wheel to slide into position by sliding on the sacrificial ABS rather than scratching the beautiful finish on the camera tube. Now I’ll carry that scrap with me just In case I ever have to actually use the spare, so I don’t mess up, the pretty finish.

Removed Rubicon stickers, put all my prior car goodies in after picking it up last night, and put the rear cargo tray that I ordered in. Sill guards and grab handles should get her Friday.

Looked nicer with the Rubi Stickers. Why did you take them off?
