Dear lort and I thought I had a good Amazon day...
I had a good Quadratec day! Got about 2/3 of my order. Rest is back ordered. Yes credit card got maxed out. I switched to a higher cash back one just for this purchase. Still waiting on Metalcloak, Tazer, Maximus-3, shop press and few Amazon items. Got front bumper (dang it was heavy) , door straps, Quadratec floor liners and fire extinguisher installed at least. Maybe..... 3% done.

Day Sixteen. Finished up the installation of my Smittybilt X20 10,000lb winch long with a Rusty’s winch mounting plate. Very nice directions included with Rusty’s winch plate mount. I’m less than impressed with the control box attachment for the winch. I really can’t believe that design ever got past a drafting check, much less an Engineering check. I ended up using two pairs of zip ties in each of the holes in the little castings. I think it’ll be fine, but if I have to I’ll fab up something a bit more substantial.
One note: the instruction with the winch plate say to discard that little plastic trim piece that goes between the bumper and the grill. I didn’t like seeing the frame raises and fog light wires, so I trimmed it to clear the winch and reinstalled. I think it looks more finished now.
Oh, and while I was at it I deleted the bumper extension before starting the job. That made the bumper removal and reinstall an easier one-person job.

I’ve been thinking about that massive power cable running from the winch to the battery, which in a collision could have seriously nasty effects. So I decided to install a remote power disconnect relay and connect it to the AUX switches. I don’t know if I’ll prevent a fireworks show, but I do think it was the right (and fun in geeky way) thing to do.
Since I had to remove the winch to access the wiring I had previously secured behind the headlight, I also took the opportunity to install 3M protective film on the grill. Looks pretty good from about three feet, but certainly not as simple as it looks when the pros do it on you tube....
For parts I used I used a Warn power relay, and I ordered my precut film from NoChip.com

Oh and my Factor 55 Flatlink came in the mail on Friday, so I put that on too. And... after struggling with the protective sheath on the winch rope trying to get it past the fairlead, I’m trying a mod where I have flattened it out and put on a few zip ties to keep flat and hopefully keep it from sliding down the rope and getting all twisted as is passes through the fair lead.

did you want to be added to that list?
Sure, I know there are several threads going around. Last I knew some forum people were running poison spider Wednesday so if that’s still the case I’m in.

Installed a Heise HE-SR30 lightbar on zroadz cowl brackets. Does this look ok? Need a honest opinion. Looks overtly large to me. It’s actually resting on the plastic cowl. I won it in a raffle so it was free.

That cover is just too big. I removed it myself. Its just a velcro closure. I put the sheath in my recovery bag in case I need it. I don't believe its needed except to protect the rope when the rope is attached to another vehicle/structure and rubbing against the other vehicle in some "rope damaging" way. But for most trips I have been on, Winch goes directly to a direct access point (bumper mount) where the rope/cable never is bound up against anything.

I think that is sort of why its loose on the rope, so you can position where its needed along the "pull" to protect from rope abrasion. By locking it to the "end" (granted with just a zip tie) you lose that flexibility.

This is just my uneducated assessment. Anyone, please tell me why I am crazy and need to put the sheath back on?

Rugged Ridge tube doors got here today.
I wasn't sure I would like the look but they are pretty sharp in person and I feel more comfortable with my 10 year old in the jeep than with no doors.

Great looking ride. What are you going to do for side mirrors?
