Hello All,
I received my JLUS yesterday, and I’m sure many of you will be getting yours soon as well. I’m starting this thread because I looking to upgrade a few areas on my ride. Particularly here I am wondering everyone’s thoughts on Wheel &Tire upgrades.

I am looking to purchase 20” Wheels and Tires to fit. My JLUS came with Bridgestone All Terrain Tires which are very nice but as you al know are 18”.

What tires do you recommend for a occasional moderate all terrain user that would fit well on a nice set of 20” wheels?

Why on earth would you want to go higher than 18" if you are planning to go off pavement? The 18's are perfect for your purposes.

Sorry, I am a newb. Wasn’t sure if increased wheel size would affect off road capability as much. Thanks for your help.

I’ll keep my tires then and just update the wheels. Nice matte black wheels on a Bright White Body.

20" wheels are for a mall crawler. Go with 17's. Yourself and everyone else will be happier.

17's and KO2's.
Thanks for the heads up. Sorry I’m new to the Jeep world and have been driving a beater my whole life. First time owning such a nice vehicle. That’s why I’m on this thread for you jeep guys wisdom. I’ll just kee the 18” tires then and upgrade to some matte black rims.

Thanks again!

What about 20s for a highway driver? What tire size would you recommend?

Dude, you are about to get slammed. Don't let it get to you. Folks on this forum don't look kindly on "mall crawlers." Btw, I hate that term along with "soccer mom". I just refer to them to make a point. Enjoy your customized ride!

Listen...it's your money and your vehicle, so set it up as you wish. If it is never gonna leave the pavement, then go for 20's if you like. The problem with that size wheel is that you minimize the amount of rubber on the sidewall. With 17's or 18's there is more rubber there to absorb the rocks, the ruts, and everything else you may encounter off road. A lot of folks here (myself included) see a Wrangler as an off road, "rough and tumble" vehicle and should be set up that way. However, the reality of it is, we all work hard for our money and how we spend it, or what we spend it on is nobody's business except our own. This thing costs a ton of cash, so set it up as you see fit. If you are happy with how it looks, then that is perfect.

Get what you like and what fits your needs! I need something with four doors, that fits four people, and is capable in bad weather conditions and works at a construction site. I'm not going to rock crawl or go off-roading.

I'll be getting 20's on 35 inch tires for mine. :like:

The OP said he wanted to do occasional moderate off-roading...hence keeping the stock Sahara rim and tire size makes the most sense for him.

Will one notice a ride difference with 20’s?
Are 18’s smoother? Less of a feel every bump ride?
Also do 35’s get you much worse gas’s mileage? Is it that big of a difference?

Could one put 35’ on 20” Wheels without a lift on the Sahara?

I think 20s will be noticeably harsher than 18s. Hitting a pothole in 20s will be much worse than hitting a pothole in 18s.

People are posting that gas mileage is noticeably worse with 35s. I don't know exactly but maybe 2 or 3 mpg worse?

Need a lift for that.
