When the time is right...and I know this is more money....but if you join TreadLightly for $100, you can make the purchase at 1% below Factory Invoice. You mentioned price being a factor and this will save you some. On my 2019 JLUR, I saved about $3700 by joining.

The lease and finance rates aren’t going to help. They usually don’t offer tons of incentives on most models and even my own lease money factor was about 5.5% which is relatively high compared to some other brands I was shopping.

Before I leased, I found a Blog on edmunds.com where a guy was replying with Bank Rates that helped me negotiate with my dealer.

Good luck!
Are you saying the invoice on your Jeep was $370,000? That's what saving $3,700 with a 1% discount would be.

Your Jeep's invoice was $370K? How did the 1% TL discount save you $3,700? At most, 1% will save you around $550, unless you found some crazy expensive Jeep that I don't know about.
I think he was factoring the 1% plus whatever the dealer went below invoice. I save almost 6k I think 7% under invoice

The dude makes $40k and talking about a Jeep that cost at least his entire annual salary. Tread Lightly is not going to help.

No...the difference between MSRP and my sales price (which was 1% below invoice because of the TreadLightly affiliation) meant that I saved about $3700. In other words, without real negotiations, I bought my Jeep $3700 under sticker price because of a $100 membership

Agreed....that’s why I started with...”when the time is right....”

Oh got it. Anyone should be able to get to at least invoice pricing on their own. The value of the TL discount is a max net of $450 or so. Great cause, but wanted to make sure people didn’t think their $100 membership got them thousands in savings.

Not sure what you’re referring to on “max net of $450”
The MSRP of my Jeep was $52,425
I ordered in OCT 2018 and waited 3.5 months for it to arrive
When it did, I brought my Affiliate Paperwork from TL and bought the Jeep for $48,725 which was 1% below dealer invoice cost.

Agreed and I’ve read in here that in some markets, dealers are giving them away and walking in off the street warrants a discount like that....in my market where I live and the fact that I ordered, I wasn’t going to get that price automatically...at least not by my selling dealer. So the discount was worth it

All-New Pricing for 2019!
I created an Excel worksheet for JL pricing with options and variable discounts below invoice.

New Update: Sahara added. Sport added, too! (The Sport worksheet doesn't list all options included with S package, but that doesn't change pricing (allowance was made for Deep Tint Sunscreen only).

New Update: I updated new Jeep pricing (+$500 MSRP, increased Destination charge), added 2.0 BSG Turbo and Sky One Touch Roof.

Also, all models now on one spreadsheet, just click on tab at the bottom to select model.

New Update: New price increases and MOAB added.
Newest Update: errors my cat made while typing this (incompetent cat) have been fixed
You can use this spreadsheet from another blog post to calculate your discount from MSRP to below invoice

No correlation between a little money off for a TL discount and your total savings. You are giving the impression that joing TL will get you a $3,700 savings. That is misleading.

I’m just assuming the priciest JL is $58k with a $55k invoice. The 1% discont is worth $550, less your $100 membership fee and you it saved ou $450. Since your JL was less, it saved slightly less.

Depending on the configuration of your Jeep....of which there are plenty...pricing can vary from the mid $30’s to $58-$60K
The more you spend, the greater the difference is from MSRP to below invoice, hence the greater the discount

Sure, getting base Sport won’t get you same discount. Did not mean to mislead. It’s all based in your MSRP

Not exactly...Using your numbers...
MSRP is $58K
Invoice is $55K
I am not entitled nor is the dealer entitled to sell me the car at invoice. If they attempt to sell at MSRP and I am guaranteed below invoice because of a $100 investment I saved $3000.

My math is based on the fact that the dealer which would normally sell for MSRP, now sold me under invoice because I had an Affiliate Partners Control Number

Again, sellling dealers in your market may vary.

Pretty much anybody who has ever been on a Jeep forum at anytime knows about the Tread Lightly thing, but for the topic of this thread, that’s way too far down the line.
You also don’t need to join Tread Lightly. The FCA affiliates list includes a lot of companies that a lot of people may already be employed by. Tread Lightly is just the way to buy your way into that list.

Agreed
However, my employer was not.

Where are you located where someone with even half-baked people skills can’t manage to negotiate to invoice pricing? Maybe Hawaii? Most people are paying significantly less than invoice, using elementary negotiating skills, with or without an affiliate discount, so positioning it as a tool to save thousands is almost never applicable.
