And so again I ask what do you all do to afford yours?
Since you insist on pushing this insane quest of yours and to give you perspective: I spent decades becoming financially sound; I make $100k+ per year, as does my wife; we have excellent credit so money doesn't cost us too much; I've saved a 30% down payment; I've spent over a year researching the best deal/build/loan for me; I never see a car as an addition to my family, it's just a thing; most importantly, I've listened to the advice of those who are wiser than I am.

If somehow you think what we do/did will help; I have 4 college degrees, had careers in engineering, IT data management and law enforcement. For many years I made $200,000 to $250,000 with three pension plans. I live modestly, set up college funds for my eight grandchildren, paid for my cars and houses with cash so I didn't have to pay someone else, now retired for 7 years and living comfortably on my social security check. I've had new cars since I was 18, 50 years ago and that one cost me $2995. Most cars I had were moderate cost vehicles and modest houses. We didn't have kids until I was 28 so we could save and be ready for them. When you match that then you may want to consider buying a Rubicon.

If you are really worried about used car and reliability go buy a brand new minimally optioned Hyundai or Kia commuter for less than $15k new that will get great gas mileage and a 10yr warranty then save your money and build that 88 up to be a beast, or save up for a JK and make that what you want it over time.

Have you considered a new Toyota Land Cruiser? Maybe sell your hair and a couple pints of blood per week. If you’re young and good looking, maybe consider being a male escort, if you don’t mind it...Ramen Noodles are better with a splash of hot sauce, just FYI...

Ramen with a fried egg on top and a little parmesan got me through many lean times. Dont forget the sriracha!

If this cat is trolling, he's putting in the time. It all seems so incredibly unreasonable that it just might be real.

P.s.: That's how we know you're a millennial okie: there wasn't no stinkin' sriracha around when I was living off Ramen...

You want to know how to get a 2019 Rubicon? Money. Takes only a measly 40ish thousand or so. Sorry had to do it.

As a tip, don’t count overtime as part of your base pay. Count on 40 hours a week and base your living expenses on that. Use the overtime as a bonus to help pay down your debts, then eventually build up a savings. Working 70-120 hours a week isn’t guaranteed and you’re going to burn yourself out.

Holy run on sentences. It doesn't hurt to use a period every now & then.
A period would imply that he pauses, and if he ever paused to consider what he's suggesting, he would come to his senses and, you know, not do it. No periods=no time to think it over.

I will tell you this....

I messed up with college and lost my scholarships and graduated 2 years behind. Meaning 2 years behind in my career + salary + raises and also in debt with school loans.

I too was working for $15/hr but I had to get my head straight and start paying down my debt and putting off the "fun" stuff which meant 2 used cards that were good until just recently which is why Im getting a Rubicon.

It took a LOT of work and lot of paycheck to paycheck but it worked out. You have to focus though. It wont be easy and it wont be fun. But youll get ahead if you do it.

I would look for a decent $8000 Corolla or something. A good toyota will last you a long time. Get to paying off debt and raising your credit. Most importantly, connect and educate yourself to climb the career ladder so you can be making 30-40/hr.

I would take a look at this forum for credit/auto loan/financial advice....

***EDIT to explain "which is why Im getting a Rubicon"***

I WAS working for $15/hr but by focusing and paying off my debt and also working hard to move UP, I finally got myself out of $15/hr and now I make over 65k salary. I have a house and dogs and I wanted a vehicle capable of bringing home improvement material to the house and also to carry my pups in the back. Took time and effort as I mentioned though and credit is good now, I have a home, stable career and soon a new SUV for work/fun!

Ok as I said I am not purchasing one on my income right now, I am just gathering the info needed, and I may make a little dollar amount but the hours I work stacks up pretty quick on my little income I made 40k just last year, I know it’s not a lot but it is and I’m in my situation because I took advice from people saying no don’t get a credit card don’t get a loan do this do that and your credit will rise, well then I got into a little trouble with my speeding and had to pay lots of money to fix all that and get out of trouble then I was trying to move from my apartment to a house and we couldn’t qualify so we got a credit card everything was great then my Jeep blew up and I was trying to fix it and ran dry between that and getting to work so the credit card got a little behind so that has been taken care of now I’m on the rise and trying to make my life better, i bout a used jimmy for 4K had under 100k miles on it and it got me a year of running and I had to replace all the balls hubs and drive shaft, heater core, radiator, pulleys battery water pump I mean literally this thing ate my money and t was in great condition it’s just my luck! I live a minimum life because I don’t need all that I don’t have tv I don’t have the newest iPhone or gaming system I don’t go out to dinner or eat fast food all the time I go to work and come home and spend my time with my family going out hiking or on a walk, now the decision making skills I couldn’t agree more lmao I have the hardest time actually making a decision I’m always on the fence because I see from both positive and negative standpoints and have a hard time weighing them, And a little Camry is that going to transport my family safe through the snows of Colorado lmao I’m fine driving anything I drove a eclipse in the snow for years but my gf with my kids is different she’s scared lol! And so again I ask what do you all do to afford yours?
When the time is right...and I know this is more money....but if you join TreadLightly for $100, you can make the purchase at 1% below Factory Invoice. You mentioned price being a factor and this will save you some. On my 2019 JLUR, I saved about $3700 by joining.

The lease and finance rates aren’t going to help. They usually don’t offer tons of incentives on most models and even my own lease money factor was about 5.5% which is relatively high compared to some other brands I was shopping.

Before I leased, I found a Blog on edmunds.com where a guy was replying with Bank Rates that helped me negotiate with my dealer.

Your Jeep's invoice was $370K? How did the 1% TL discount save you $3,700? At most, 1% will save you around $550, unless you found some crazy expensive Jeep that I don't know about.
