Did you get any recent firmware updates done to your UConnect? I had mine in a few weeks ago for the cruise control recall which involved updating the software. Noticed my phone (iPhone 7 Plus) suddenly wouldn't even connect nor charge when plugging into the USB media port. I thought maybe it was the cable I was using, but had my wife try hers on the USB port in the center console and it seemed to have worked. Then suddenly it all started working again after getting back in the JL after being parked for a few hours. Was driving my Jeep and all of a sudden my CarPlay disconnects. I unplug and plug my
iPhone in and it charges but CarPlay doesn’t activate. I tried turning the car off and on, still nothing. I plug in USB 1 and it starts CarPlay. =(
Thanks for the reply. I will try this today and see if it helps.Hi everyone,
I came across some internal information that might help. With recent iOS updates, iPhones may have had the USB accessibility option turned off. To verify this, go under Settings > Touch ID & Passcode > USB Accessories. If turning this on doesn't fix the issue, I would recommend checking in with your dealership to schedule an inspection. DM us if you have any questions or need further assistance!

Saw this post on another thread. Didn’t seem to help me. Have same issues not connecting to CarPlay but charges the phone. Thanks for the reply. I will try this today and see if it helps.
I have the same problem in a 2019 JLU Sahara. CarPlay works and then suddenly disconnects. Happened first day off the lot and then the following day. So far, it has not happened when using the dashboard USB port. I prefer the esthetics of using the USB port in the center console. Jeep Cares also advised me to bring the car to the dealer. Has anyone had any luck with the dealer being able to fix the problem?
I have used only the center console usb since taking delivery in July. As of yesterday, it no longer connects to the iphone. I had to switch to the usb under the screen. Not happy. I liked having the cords out of the way.No luck from my dealer yet. I agree that the center console usb (usb2) is the best place for your phone. With all the capability of carplay it’s nice to put my phone away while I drive and still be able to text/answer calls (well, answer calls most of the time).
usb accessibility turned on didn't solve. Thanks for the reply. I will try this today and see if it helps.
Hi OrangeSahara,Have been having the same issue. Works fine then starts to cut and come back. After 2 or 3 times, it won’t connect but will charge. Seems to me like a bad connection in the arm rest console, under dash one works fine. Will be taking it to the dealer at the weekend (also having the ESS issue so they can fix both at the same time hopefully)
