Anyone else out there not sure about the gladiator. When I’m looking at it I can’t help but to think of those vehicles at the all inclusive resorts that haul rich people from hotel to hotel, or pick you up at your car and drive you to check in. Something about it just doesn’t sit right with me, I think it’s the length of it. I don’t know, anyone out there not a fan? And why not?

I think it looks pretty neat, but it does seem oddly long. I'm thinking 2 doors might look better?

Honestly, no clue. But I would think that would be a smart move.

I’m sure - sure that I don’t like it! It’s awful looking. Raptor all the way for that $$.

Could it be @Roky--and of course I can't speak to what's going on in your head; I can barely rationalize my own decisions at times....the following scenario:

To your eyes, as a new rig, the Gladiator strikes you as one off custom mod of a Wrangler--and custom mods are, if nothing else, expensive?

You wouldn't feel this way about a Ram Truck, would you--so vehicle length isn't the sole factor?

Perhaps as your eyes get use to it, and you come to accept it as the production vehicle it is, that some of these feelings about the rig will wane.

I'll tell you this much, its price tag, whatever enormous sum I predict it to be, won't help said acceptance as a non luxury vehicle.

I like the Gladiator for its unique look, capabilities, and small-than-full size. I’ve had full size trucks for years and am done with them for a daily driver. I have an old full size truck I’m keeping for yard work, etc., but I’m ready to get a Wrangler, though I almost wish I had waited for the Gladiator. It checks all the boxes for me but I’m stoked to get a JL.

Related note since the Raptor was mentioned. I was meeting with my dealer today and they have a Ford dealership as well. On their floor was a nicely equipped Raptor with a market adjusted price of $10K :surprised:. $76K. It is beautiful but damn.

It's not the length overall that bothers me, it's the overhang. It's enough of a change in the breakover going from a JL to a JLU, but the JLU still remains a good crawler. You lose so much departure angle on the Gladiator that it makes it just another pickup truck. A pickup with a removable top (and dual top option), but still just a pickup truck. It will be capable off road, but that makes it more just like any other offering.

The JL is unique in the market due to it's incredible off road performance, the Gladiator won't be.

Wouldn't stop me from buying one if I wanted a pickup, but changes the purpose.

NOPE, not for me --

It's a JEEP on a RAM frame--it's only a couple inch's SHORTER THAN MY RAM and will never be able to make a corner ON-TRAIL without the driver taking a lunch break--

I'm sure some people will buy it, but it's just TOO LONG--it's gonna have JEEP FRONT AXLE troubles and carrying a load to boot !

I respect these thoughts.

Might this video suggest features unique to both the Gladiator and off road experience?

Maybe, are they making a two door?
They aren't.

And if you want to read about 1,000 posts about that decision, head on over to the Gladiator forum.

For me as a JLU owner, the Gladiator looks cool from some angles, yet odd from others. Just have a look at the different pics....you'll see what I mean. I'd still love to have one for the hauling aspects.

I think if you like Wranglers the big draw would be a Wrangler that tows.

I have to see one in person before I decide if I like the looks.

Exactly! I'm going to test drive one for sure. But I have a sinking feeling that the base model will be around $45-$48k :(
