2H. Unless you live in the Deep South. Then 4L, lockers engaged, all while the Jeep is parked safely in your garage because EVERYTHING is closed due to the horrific conditions that no human should have to endure!!!
Well....25 years ago I'd say 2H and swing that a$$ end out in every turn, but middle-aged, responsible me is saying just park it until the salt trucks and spreaders come by. Just call the boss and say today isn't a good day to come in to work. Or just buy an auto-4wd Sahara. That'll get you there without even having to choose 2 vs 4, H vs L.
Ok, after reading the title and seeing the photo gave me a good chuckle to start the day. But to answer your question, is it depends if you are slipping around or not. Sometimes it's hard to tell what the conditions are just by a photo. If there is ice underneath the snow then perhaps you may need 4H, if not, perhaps not.
yep. 2hi should get you there, but if you loose momentum, then 4hi will get you going again.
i know the rubi has open diff, so only one wheel is giving you power in 2wd, but stick it into 4hi and you get one rear, and one front. usually opposite wheels to keep you moving straight.
a sahara or sport with LSD with both rear wheels powering, it's easy to slide sideways and if it's a 2 door, the ass end can come right around in no time, if you're not ready for it.
you can shift into 4hi at any safe highway speed. you can shift while in gear and off the gas, but i like to shift to neutral in an auto, or push the clutch in for stick, then shift back into gear, then slightly get back on the gas.
Unless there is ice that doesnāt show in the picture, thatās no different than driving in the rain. 3 inches of snow packed on the road I may go to 4H but takes the fun away lol.
In all seriousness, I rather stay in 2H if possible simply because I donāt want the false sense of security of good traction only to find out that I cannot stop. I shift in and out of 4H as needed.
Wait.. sorry.. I thought this was a joke thread. No disrespect if itās a legit question.
If serious: No definitely nothing but 2H for those roads.
Also people saying shifting into 4H while at highway speeds??? Absolutely not. The manual suggests no more than 50MPH for 4H and, honestly, if you can drive that fast, you donāt need 4x4 on anyway.... if youāre slipping and sliding, get some better tires and/or slow down.
Also, reading some of these responses... maybe itās because Iām from NE Ohio and was born in snow but... guys that aināt shit for snow...
