wonderful!!!
What do you think the max load is... the manufacturer says 40 lb... many think that it might be as low as 9 lb. Thank you for your great write-up.

It appears to rest on the cargo floor when the tailgate is closed, so I don't think it's stressing the bolt holes that much. I personally wouldn't want to max it out at 40lbs, but as long as things are secured and not banging around inside, you'd probably be fine at 25-35 lbs.

Could you install the tuffybox directly to the rear gate without the plastic gate cover? Would it be a better install,
Can you show photos of the edges and how it covers/connects to the gate.
Thx

I installed the tailgate lockbox. It's strong, can be used as a very good table (supports a Coleman two burner stove with ease), doesn't rattle or squeak, allows room for a floor mat, has more room inside than I imagined, but somehow is smaller on the outside than I imagined. Install took 20 minutes, and instructions are clear. Here are some photos that might help you get a sense of size.

I don’t think so, I think you would have to empty the contents of the pack store in the box and fill prior to use.
I love mine. I think it’s price is a bit high.

I can’t find the internal dimensions anywhere. Whats the max length you could fit something in here? Im wondering if this would be a good option to store a long gun.

Old thread I know but does this box interfere at all with the soft top when in down position? Thanks!

Hi, I too am wondering if anybody has attempted to install the lockbox directly to the tailgate without the plastic panel? Does it tuck in tighter? Thanks!

yes, there is a thread on this. Essentially, you have to cut the included spacers (almost in half) so the Tuffy sits flush against the tailgate, and most recommend using some Weatherstripping between the Tuffy and the tailgate.

Thx Hudson. Super help. I ordered my box. They’ve apparently redesigned them slightly in January to handle the Mopar liner better. Can’t wait to get it....
