Unfortunately, no. I was hoping to get by without it but I might join to get the 1%. I was being a little greedy and asking for 5.
I'm guessing you want the Jeep ASAP. I'm not sure what the dealers will do on price for the very first one on their lot. Good luck and let us know how it turn out!

Wait... A plain old Sport out in the wild?!? FCA is slipping up. Thought they were keeping those under wraps until sometime in the future. (on a side note: starting to re-think my firecracker red decision... but too late to change my order.)
Why you rethink Red?

Agree with that, they arent gonna let that puppy go for cheap....sticker price plus whatever markup they already threw on is probably the plan on that one. It serves them better being the first dealer in the area to have one as a crowd gatherer than it does to let it go at the moment.

My local dealer has one of those "Commando" Jeeps (basically a JKU Sport with smittybilt bumpers/rails, light bar, MOPAR lift, 35 pro comp M/Ts and Pro Comp wheels) that they have the insanely retarded sticker of $52,999 on. I sat there one day while my wife was working a deal on her Jeep and watched 2 different couples come in, test drive it...complain about the price...then buy a bone stock sport and had it lifted to be similar.....freaking genius marketing. Its never gonna sell...thats the point for them...and if by some stroke of foolish idiot coming in miracle someone does poney up the money the dealership still wins big time for that price tag.

Been there for months...no change in price coming lol Once the JL market gets fully in swing yea they will probably mark it down and sell it off at a decent deal...but for now...nope

Sport/S looks a lot better in black than it does in White. Reason being that the eyes don’t notice or pick up on the lack of “styling additions” that are missing from the Sport/S such as grille inserts, hood scoops, rock rails, and badges (I’m aware some of these have a real purpose, but they also make the Jeep look a lot better).

It never ceases to amaze me to walk into a Jeep dealership and see a $38,000 Wrangler tricked-out and then priced well into the $50k range with just an average lift, wheels, tires, bumpers and a couple of other do-dads (that one could buy off Quadratec for around $5,000 or less in parts and DIY or even pay someone less than $2,000 in labor to install). I can count only on one hand the number of new JK's that I have seen over the years that were modified and the dealer was reasonably pricing them. Yes, I know, you can roll the "mods" into the financing. Trust me, you are much better off taking the stock Wrangler, whichever model, and tricking it out yourself. You will save tons of cash. May take a little longer to save for the mods you want, but better than paying the dealer a huge mark-up for the accessories and the finance company the interest on them.

And I agree with the major sentiment here that the average salesperson at dealerships is clueless about their products. Don't know if that is because of the turnover in the sales staff or what, but I find it extremely common with sales persons selling "American" cars and trucks. Less so among the foreign products, at least the higher end. There was virtually no question the BMW salesman could not answer when my wife bought her last (and I do mean last!) foreign car (she drives a Hemi-equipped Challenger these days and a Jeep!).

The more I read, the more the JL is growing on me. Still waiting for the dust to settle and some additional colors before I get to the "plunge in" stage. Oh, and maybe waiting a little more for word about the pickup. Either way, nothing likely until the 2019 model in late summer.

Happy New Year, all!

My hometown dealer passed on 5% below invoicing and was more like 2-2 1/2% under. But since multiple other dealers have quoted 5% under, my business will end up with one of them. One local(ish) dealer (1 hr or so drive) quoted me a Jeep that is right at 4% under with $499 doc fees. The people in Dayton (6 hr drive) quoted 5% under with a $250 doc fee. The difference in $$ end up being right about $700. A one way ticket to Dayton will cost me $250 (or really 15k frequent flier miles). It's worth the trip to me.
Do you understand why 5%Is a "No"........ Buying a car is not hard....Consumers make it hard...... The answer is no when you ask a dealer to loose money in order to sell you a a car.
EXAMPLE

On a 42k JL Sport 24s pkg the invoice is around 40,185
Dealers get back from FCA something called HOLDBACK that is to pay for the cost of intrest on inventory(witout it dealers could not stock 20+ wranglers on th lot for you to see and test drive.

the holdback on that 42k JL is about $1100,,,,,,

5%under would be 2000 under invoice ,,,,,which would mean we would have to LOOSE $900 to sell the hottest vehicle in our inventory.......

Durring the first 6 months there is absolutely no reason why any dealer should be taking orders on Wranglers for under invoice....... I am not saying you need to pay retail......I assure many dealers will be adding addendum's to the new JL....If you want a "deal" here is the 2018 JK.....

Dealers do not get an unlimited supply of Wranglers to sell each month. There is never a need to loose money on a product that you sell out of ........Have you not noticed that Wrangler is the ONLY Vehicle in all of FCA (Beside some special SRT products) that has ZERO rebates.....

So Koons and the other dealers quoting 5% under invoice are selling at a loss or is there a difference in dealer profit for a factory order vs buying off the lot?

I think its based more on dealer sales volume and "kickbacks" the dealer gets for moving inventory. Im no salesman, never have been so I am truly talking out of my butt, but what I can tell you is that my wife and I bought an Explorer years back literally the day it came off the delivery truck. The salesman gave us a superb deal on it and informed us (ya know one of those let me pretend to tell you a secret hush hush things) that the dealership gets kick backs and incentives for selling vehicles within a certain time after receiving them.

Was he just trying to seal the deal, or was he legit...I have no idea but it does make sense. So my guess is dealers that move inventory and are focused on volume get perks I guess. They may pretend to be taking it up the butt or they may actually be taking a hit up front, but either way businesses do not stay in business without making money...so money is being made regardless in one form or another.

Just a note: It takes a couple weeks for your # to be sent. They said the shirt and info relatively fast though. I just showed my dealer that, and he agreed that by the time I took delivery I would have the number I needed. (what every that # is called).

I snatched one of the dealers orders, it was the exact build I wanted and the most expensive one they ordered, I'm thinking when it comes in, I should offer them one week of my Jeep on the showroom in exchange for some cash or free oil changes or something!

It's ok that they said no to the 5% below invoice. I never expected them to say yes, I just gave them the opportunity to do so. Now, do you understand why I said "no" to their offer? Why would I lose money when another dealer can beat the home town dealer price by $1400?

I can tell this is frustrating to you, but I think it's an example of capitalism at it's finest. Sorry, but I'm going to choose the best deal for me. And I ain't mad at the home town dealer either. They should do what's best for them too.
