I’ve been reading a lot of posts and articles about how excited some people are about the 2.0 turbo, and the upcoming Diesel engine that is going to be offered. Just curious if I’m the only one kinda disappointed that they do not offer at least the 5.7 ltr Hemi engine in Wranglers. They offer them in the Grand Cherokee. I think the 5.7 ltr Hemi would be perfect for the Jeeps especially with modifications when you start running 35s or 37s. Offroad man you’ve got that Hemi power on tap. I would think fuel efficiency would be no different than the Grand Cherokee. The rubicon would definitely be able to handle the power. I’ve seen through YouTube a company in Colorado that will do the 5.7 or 6.4 ltr conversion but it’s not cheap. Anyway, I vote for Jeep to add at least a 5.7 ltr Hemi option to the line up.

Jeeps lots of jeeps
People have wanted a hemi in a jeep for years, unfortunately Chrysler has no plan of doing it.

I'd say the powertrain wouldn't handle that much power especially in 4L. chunks everywhere. Thinking long term warranty costs lol

I'd love to see that. Wrangler could stand to lose a couple of seconds 0-60

I agree it would be interesting (and expensive as s**t). But unlikely to happen. If you look at the Grand Cherokee SRT, it essentially lost all the GC's normal off-roading characteristics in favor of street performance and speed. One thing Jeep has thankfully always maintained is that all Wranglers, from the most basic Sport to the beefiest Rubicon, will have off-roading credentials. Just no way to do that and build a vehicle for speed. That being said, I'm sure you'd find someone who has dropped a V8 aftermarket in a Jeep, and would be awesome to see at a show.

Trail Jeeps up the road from me does the conversion to V8 and I've seen a few of them. The kits make the installs look stock on JK's, but I don't think anything is available for the JL yet. So if you have $30k to get yourself more HP, then drop by and say hello.

Your new motor is part of the trade though, so no you can't recoup any money from there. You will likely need to consider new axles, gears, wheels and tires, etc as well.

I've been loving my little V6. After 4000 miles I have started to open her up out in the mountains and have found that it has no trouble running up the hills my old LJ struggled with. It does so well I'm catching myself going too fast. Thankfully they included much better brakes. :whew:

Dakota customs (formerly burnsville off road does them). Hell they also did a viper motor in a TJ for Scott Stussey of the Vikings. That TJ had Dana 60s front and rear and other built up stuff. Was in the tough truck challenge years ago.

You have enough money you can do it...but its spendy. Add Dana 60s and you should be fine. The JK tranny and transfer case supposedly held up fine for the HEMI

Jeep has to be the worst blue balls company with this. Every year they show several wranglers with hemis at Easter Jeep safari. Every year thousands drool over the hope Jeep might finally listen instead of just teasing us.

Nope they haven't done it yet and probably never will. I'm convinced it's some sick game by their engineers.

Will the diesel wrangler have different axels and a transfer case compared to the rest of the model range? If so, the different components may be strong enough for the Hemi.

All you need to do is get yourself a donor Ram 1500 2-door 4x4 and put the axles, transmission, and engine from it under/in the 2-door Jeep. :)

I was staring at my hood they other day and thinking I can’t wait to see someone get a hemi in a JL. I wouldn’t put it past Jeep to do it if they think it would make more money. Why not do a limited edition Rubicon with Dana 60’s and a hemi for a pretty penny?

I'd pay a significant amount for a hemi with a g238 6 speed with Dana 60s and a factory 3-4" lift with factory 35s.

Call it the Wrangler Carnage Canyon

Heck yeah!

They could probably get away with it on the JLU since the wheelbase of the JLU is just slightly shorter (maybe 2") than the Ram 1500 2-door short bed pickup. On the regular JL though, they might be concerned that it would make the handling a bit too twitchy. That's also a lot of engine to squeeze under the JL's hood and it might be a bit of a tight fit.

I bet it is tight-haven’t compared the engine compartment sizes between JL and JK, but what if FCA has the plan to do it including building the JLU to handle it and it’s just under wraps. A guy can dream, right?
