As far as I'm concerned, if it catches fire let it burn. I only bought one because my Jeep Club requires it... doesn't mean I'll use it though lol.

I bought mine from here...

https://www.h3rcleanagents.com/h3r-halon-portable-fire-extinguishers.htm

Halon isn't cheap but there is absolutely NOTHING better. They leave no residue and work instantly. We used them in the Navy, I've seen first hand a Halon extinguisher put out a jet fuel fire in about half a second. I've been using them ever since.
Hell yeah Halon ain't cheap, it's been banned from manufacture for years. The only Halon you can get is recycled - typically from capturing from data centers being decommissioned. "Back in the day" we had an event at one of our data centers. Some new security guard was making the rounds and, when leaving one of the floors via the man trap, wondered what that big red button did. So he pushed it (insert face palm emoji here). The extremely LOUD alarm sounded, which freaked out the cleaning woman inside the room so much she ran into a wall and knocked herself out, and then the overhead system dumped God knows how many pounds of Halon to suppress the non-existent fire in a date center of about 15K square feet (it was just one of the floors, the other 2 weren't affected). CPD and CFD responded, took the poor woman out on a gurney, temporarily quarantined the building as a hazmat . . . all around cluster f**k. I think current Halon pricing, only available to facilities grandfathered in, is in the $25/lb range. It was less back then but we were still looking at a 7 figure price tag for the refill. That's what insurance is for, though, right? Needless to say that security guard was given new employment opportunities.
All that said, I'm fine with a standard fire extinguisher, by the time I realize there's a fire and am able to get to the unit and detach and deploy it there's been some damage done. The point of the Halon in a data center was to put out fires without introducing elements that would cause head crashes on disk drives, among other complications. If my Jeep's on fire it's already in trouble and I don't need/want a $500 unit to put it out.

Installed the H3R-MX250B extinguisher on the H3R-NB300 quick release mount. Worked perfectly on that flat trim panel between the rollbar and the side window on the hard top. It’s accessible from both the back seat, and the tailgate area:

While Halon extinguishers are certainly the best for class B & C fires (oil & electrical) they are less effective for class A fires (paper, wood and plastics). Halotron 1 is a newer, environmentally acceptable, substitute, but the B & C categories and higher expense still apply. I prefer the ABC extinguishers that use the monoammonium phosphate dry chemicals. Good for what burns your biscuits (and the unintentional grass fires).

I really like it. Is it pretty secure? Do you think it would hold the extinguisher if you had an accident? How is it mounted to your Jeep, and where did you purchase it from?

Definitely secure. It has 8 mounting holes. 2 were hanging over the air, but I was able to catch the other 6. And if I remember correctly, I think 2 out of those 6 went through the plastic, and into the sheet metal below (I had previously taken this area of trim apart when I installed an ARB fridge wiring kit - which is below the nozzle of the extinguisher, but it doesn’t really show up in these pics. So, I knew that flat sheet metal platform was underneath the plastic trim. You could roll your Jeep and not worry about that thing popping out!

See this post for detailed mounting instructions: JLUR Fire Extinguisher

I purchased at Summit Racing:

But I’m sure you can find them elsewhere too. Good luck!

Thanks for the info! Really appreciate it. That’s something that I really need.

Yes, Jeepers, that looks like it’ll do the trick nicely. Thanks

No, I take that back, I’m liking this option more:

https://www.quadratec.com/p/mountain-road/fire-extinguisher-mount-bracket-jeep-wrangler-jl

Update: nope. Unlimited only. Dang.
Yup... I fell for that... but you read longer than I did. I bought it directly from Mountain Off-Road's website, but I didn't see the teeny tiny print in the product description that mentions 4-door. They used big-ass CAPS to mention it DOES NOT WORK WITH SOFT TOP. They even removed my review praising the design (sniff, sniff). So I have a shiny new paperweight and ended up getting a couple of sturdy BARTACT Velcro mounts.
