Good ideas on the level and measuring. I will definitely do that in the next couple days. I never thought about the fenders either!

installed my Rock Hard full width aluminum front this weekend. no drilling, no grinding, no cutting. easy install with the aid of a rubber mallet to persuade some bolts into the holes.
getting the fogs out of the stock bumper just required dismantling it... not hard if you have the trim tool.
man, that stock plastic bumper is a flimsy piece of shit!
installed the warn m8000s (m8s) too. THAT sucked.. you need really skinny, really long arms with no bones in them to reach the bolts.
OH< important note!!!!!! you have to go to lowes or home depot and get 2 3/8-16 1 1/2inch grade 5 bolts to install it or any winch.
the aluminum bumper has thick plate they use as a 'washer' to distribute the stress. it goes under the winch plate on the bumper, so you need longer bolts.
sorry, no pic of it yet.... it got dark as i was hooking up the power. didnt even get to spool the rope

Good point on the two bolts. I used the two longer ones included for the bolts on the front of the winch. Had two longer bolts in the garage fortunately for the rear mounts.

That skid plate is difficult to work around for sure!

that's exactly what i did.. then i went to lowes for the other 2. make sure the two you had in the garage have the 3 marks on the bolt head to denote grade 5. they were very specific in the warn instruction manual (which was a joke, by the way) about the use of grade 5

skid plate sucked!

I installed the Barricade HD Aluminum bumper yesterday, and I agree the stock bumper is a joke!!! I weighed it in at 30lbs, good grief. Tedious to get off and take apart to get fog lights out but not difficult.
On your bumper is the winch plate aluminum as well? On the Barricade one the bumper is aluminum and the winch plate is steel. Total weight of 50lbs but man the winch plate accounts for at 35 of that.
Anyway, very easy install and I set our 9500 RC winch on it and the suspension on the Sahara went down maybe 1/8".

the winch plate is a very thick piece of aluminum.. and they give you what seems like 3/8 inch backing plate to go under the plate to spread the load.
WAY sturdier than the cheap stamped sheet steel 'plate' behind the stock bumper.

i am not a fan of steel right up against aluminum with no gasket. .if there is ANY imperfection in the finish you will get a galvanic reaction which actually accelerates corrosion between the 2. keep an eye on that
i am sure thats how barricade achieves the price point on an aluminum bumper.
the rock hard is EXPENSIVE.. it was hard to justify but i live near the beach, which kills steel.
my wife was giving me crap about the cost until i showed her the 'protection' from the stock bumper and then she felt how thick the aluminum was on the rockhard.

When I removed the fog light harness I didn't take it apart, I just cut off the back of the 4 push pins that hold it in and pushed them through. I then just pulled the harness through. I installed an LoD stubby by myself and installed my winch at the same time. It took me 4 hrs start to finish by myself and it sucked because I don't have dainty little hands to get in to where the nuts and bolts were. Overall, I love it though.

I would have liked to see that regarding the wire harness. I don't know how you could have gotten it out without taking the bumper apart. There were about 10 pushpins that were zip tied around the harness and pushed into the bumper behind that stupid front cover.

Side note: I told my wife that front bumper was so crappy it would have caved at the slightest accident. Now... not so much :)

I didn't take pics, sorry, but I just cut off the back of the push pins and poked them through and pulled it right out. Way better than removing the gazillion screws holding that thing together.

Any of you guys that did the fog light harness removal do it on the sport plastic bumper? the rubicon and Sahara plastic bumpers are different than the sport and come apart differently.
