A rubi with auto + diesel + every option (no mopar) + CA % tax will be ~ 61k for the MSRP. A bit higher than I thought, but all cars are getting more expensive, so it's to be expected.
xray, the new wrangler has a lot of cool new gadgets but still same engine and more or less same car. Look a lot like the old Audi A5 and the new one. For the one who want a good deal just get a 2017 JKU great deal now.

Majority of the people who want Jeeps do not have $50k+ to spend on one. A 50k budget opens up possibilities to cars from Porsche, BMW, Audi, Lexus.. what is FCA thinking?
I LOVE the JL.. but 50,000 for a damned Sahara before optioning the diesel or power roof is crazy.. what happens when those options do become available? And special edition Sahara trims that add off road parts? $60k+?..

Motorman, have you built a similar JKU Sahara on the Jeep website? How much more is the JLU with the same options?

Also a fully loaded JK is 53,660. So go save your $2,340 and buy a loaded JK because apparently thats "affordable" but 56k isnt....

Totally agree Motorman, this is why I end up buying a JKU winter edition. Really wanted a Jeep but if I was going to spend over 50k rather get a luxury suv. you can get great deals now on JKU.

And that's why you buy what you can afford and nothing more. Wranglers didn't just become more expensive. The only difference is now you can justify spending the money, because the JL is a legitimately quality product. It isn't nearly as hard to justify spending the money as it was on a JK.

And I second that notion. But Jeeps, at least in my mind, have always had a youthful vibe.. buy one out of college. Get one for your spoiled high school daughter. When has a wrangler ever been something that people had to wait decades to save up for? It is not a Corvette or Porsche 911. Yes, the JK was overpriced. Yes, this is even more so.
I’ll probably still get one, and just ditch all the fancy tops and options. But that is besides the point.. it’s a Jeep!

The spoiled daughter probably does not need a 50k optioned up Rubicon. A 28k 2DR Sport will do the job fine.

I have had tons of fun in 4x4s and did not need electronic sway bars disconnects, U-tainment and electric tops.

Hell a Sport-S with the limited slip option looks to be a great sweet spot to get one hell of a stock delivered 4x4

Amen. I truly think a Willy's JL will be the sweet spot. Most of the time you're not going to need a front locker; A rear will suffice just fine for all but the most extreme off road scenarios, and even you should be able to manage. Especially with a winch and a friend or two in their respective rig/s.

I’m in agreement. I’d love to see a Willys, even though the Sport S is pretty cool as is.

Cal_JLU affordable with a Jeep goes in sequence, first I want a jeep second I want the best jeep, then the project!!! how are you going to make your jeep yours... the last one is why we are all talking about the JLU.

Yes, the Sport S is great. But when loaded in 2 door form, goes well over 40k. That is Rubicon Recon money.

Yup, there are sweet spots and the options can run the price up crazy amounts these days. I keep catching myself deciding a must have option X, something I have never had in any vehicle before, obviously nice but often not needed.

Limited slip rear and premium soft top, might have to get cold weather package to reduce wife complaining noise in cabin. My phone > fancy car gps, I can add other stuff later. around 33k is not too bad

I would have liked to get LED lights in there but, never had them last 35 years of driving I will make it a few more without them :P

I configured a 2-door Rubicon with the forthcoming turbo, and only the Infotainment and premium soft top added, both of which I could live without. I think I can get that for a tick over 40k out the door, taxes and all.

The JL prices only get exorbitant if you decide you need a fully capable off road vehicle AND a fully loaded suburban SUV in the same package. Fortunately, I wouldn't need mine as a DD, and so can avoid the irony of owning a Jeep with a removable roof and doors that also has Remote Proximity Keyless Entry.
