No one here cares about Korean Pop engines.
Its Japanese.

Seriously thou, if Stellantis want to know the secret to build a good 4 banger, they need to study it. K series is good. Really good.

My K24 lasted 290,000 miles with 0 repair. Most of the time I put synthetic blend oil because I was poor.

Now I want to see how some people built for low RPM torque.

I dont know but I am sure the sky is the limit.

All I know is.... with 260 lbft and the right gearing, I only need 1/10 of the gas paddle input to get through what I want to get through. If I dont, its lack of traction never lack of torque. In fact, my jeep can idle up decently steep hills.

The 2.0L is not more reliable. They are identical in reliability except the 3.6 is MUCH easier to repair.

OP, look into a 2026. The prices have come down a lot. 2024 was a really bad year for build quality overall, and 2025s had insane MSRP before they were cut in 2026.
How do you figure?

My .02 is that a used xr isnt that much more be it a rubi or willys. Itd be more expensive to upgrade later. Overbuy your initial thought as long as its got what youre after and its still in your budget to do so. One of the biggest lies in the Jeep community we tell ourselves is that what we currently have is enough lol.

The XR wouldnt be an awful choice for him if he doesnt ever plan on replacing the suspension ever.

I am beginning to understand what was meant when someone said that engine options are an emotional topic around here. I get it; they are both awesome at being bad (he says with his best imitation of Bill Clinton: it depends on the definition of the word bad).
Don't get them started on the 392

Stop trolling
I mean the XR is perfect for the person that just wants a Jeep slightly taller than the Rubicon with factory 35ishs and will only replace the shocks. Anyone else should avoid it.

That's an interesting take... What if my goal is to have upgraded axles, never open the diffs, and I don't mind cutting the bumpstop towers?

By this point the only thing the XR has over the standard Rubi or Willys is the steel knuckles and 4.56s yea? If so the 4.10s are just fine for 35s so youre not missing anything there and knuckles are cheap to not get stuck with the downsides of the rest of the XR if you plan on replacing your suspension.
