Well, dam wish I could get in on this, but I will still be in Michigan closing on our house and moving Utah. To build our house. I would be in for next year. Dusty has been on my list for 7 years, but every time I have been close to Dusty, it has been closed. I seam to end up in that area in May and June, not August and September.

Ted, I hope to go back again next year. You're welcome to join in. However, depending on the snowpack up at 10,000 ft, it's better to run it later. Too early, and the mosquitos eat you or you're in snow. Too late and they close the trail. So, it's a bit of narrow window. I have been trying to go for a few years. It's looking good this year. My brother and his buddies were doing this in the 70s and 80s. Not sure when he last went. Now, he retired from the sheriff's dept and bought @SadRobot 's old JL and has a new Currie 44 front axle coming to fix it, so I would expect he'll be interested in returning every year. I'll have the new 392 ready next year.

He offered to sell it back to me yesterday (although he was joking and I said hell no). 😂

I have a room booked at the Tamarack Lodge on Aug 9th and Aug 13th. See you all there.

By the way, I spoke with Gaby at the Tamarack lodge. They only have one room left for Aug 9th and two rooms for Aug 13th.

If I can get freed up in September for the Rubicon trail., I thought about trying to hit Dusty on the way back to Kanab from the Rubicon........

My wheeling is dependent on house building priorities for a while. I am sure I will be able to slip away for some wheeling though.

If some of you other guys can't get lodging, we'll try to accommodate you with space on the floor for your bedroll and a shower in my room.

Some of us have been talking about doing the Rubicon right after the Dusy. How firm are people about that? Do I need to be making reservations for a room in Pollock Pines on the 14th?

Ted,
I could easily be convinced into doing the Rubicon again in September, even if I do it in August.

I was looking at the dates. Looks like we finish up Dusy on Thursday, then would drive over to Pollock Pines on Friday in time to hit the Rubicon on the weekend. Thinking it'll be busy on the trail. Or, we could hang out a couple days at Tamarak and do some trails my brother says are some great (and likely not crowded) before going over to Pollock Pines to stagecoach inn to hit the Rubicon trail Monday. Thoughts?

Right now, I have a room at the Tamarack Lodge on the 9th and 10th, and again on the 13th. I have not checked availability on the 14th or 15th. And I haven't booked anything at Pollock Pines. I'll wait and see what other people think. I'm flexible on this.

When my wife ask why we are doing so many Jeep trails I just answer, "bucket list".

I'd prefer not to run Rubicon on Sat-Sun if possible. The traffic and camping may be bad. From what John says, the trails around Tamarak are something worth doing. One is right across the street.

I don't really want to run the Rubicon on a weekend either. I've been on the Rubicon when there was a lot of traffic and so have you. Remember than one year when there was a half dozen broken vehicles with long lines waiting for them. And all of them were Toyotas.
