My built-in-2017 2018 JLUR just hit 120,000 miles and keeps on ticking. And no, thankfully, not that ticking.

I just changed the oil and there are no sparkles, no coolant in it, all of the expected oil is accounted for, and everything is still running smoothly. I still get the occasional pinging at lower speeds when hitting certain RPMs before a shift, but the frequency in which this occurs has actually diminished since switching to 5W30 oil.

Of course, I haven't reached this milestone without the typical Pentastar flaws and I feel like I've fixed just about every oil leak you can have on this engine twice, but 8 years later, this thing has yet to throw a CEL, not perform as designed, nor leave me stranded anywhere. I've had a blast and will continue to run it until the engine inevitably gives up the ghost and I make a questionable financial decision to throw a Hemi in it.

Here is what's been fixed/replaced over the years:
  • Cams and rocker arms
  • Oil cooler
  • Rear main seal
  • Valve cover (cracked one when prying it off)
  • PCV
  • Spark plugs at 60k and 100k
I'm certainly not holding my breath for another 120k, but I'll keep driving this thing until it can be driven no more.

This is what most all folks, my guess over 90% experience.
I wouldn't say it's been drama-free, but there's been far more pleasure than pain.

I appreciate the list, Just curious. Any other non engine related issues worth noting.
Not really. Replaced my Uconnect years ago when it bricked from an update and one of my rear seat latches broke, but was replaced under warranty.

My gf's '15 JKUR that she bought in '17 at 23k miles is now at ~112k miles (would have been higher, but has not been a DD since Nov '24). The only thing that's been changed in her engine is the plugs and plug wires, injectors, and thermostat. That thing has proven to be a very good Jeep. If I still had my '20 JT Sport it would be well over 100k by now. I put 72k on it between 9/19 and 2/23. The new owners then used it to regularly tow a travel trailer between VA and FL and they said they loved it.
My current JLUR is a 2.0t with over 80k miles. Only thing I've had to do with it is replace the coolant reservoir.
I'm with you though. Of the engine ever gives out, I'll go back in debt for a Hemi instead of a new Jeep. lol

You e experienced more severe problems than most would in that mileage. There’s no reason it won’t be around for another 120.

There is a reason you don't see 120,000 mile jeep threads...... Nobody posts positive stuff.

I’m happy that you are happy and that’s really all that matters but 120k with that list is not inspiring to me.

I believe I e heard plenty of people making that milage with either nothing or an oil cooler swap.

Again, not trying to throw shade or be a jerk…you’re happy…that’s all that matters…just doesn’t seem like it’s milage brag post worthy IMO

My hinges are showing a little sign of corrosion, but that's not really a big thing here given the dry climate.

Bragging isn't the word I'd use. I've beaten the piss out of this thing driving and wheeling it across the entire western-half of the United States and expected the powertrain to completely give up years ago.

My 15 JK by 15,000 miles, needed ball joints, mostly street driven, with 35's. My 24, with 35's, just passed 26,000 miles, drives great.

Not to 'jack this into an oil thread, but I think regular oil changes are helpful with engine longevity. On my '25 I changed the oil at 1K and 4K, and will again at 7K and 10K, then every 5K after that. A five quart jug of MOPAR recommended Pennzoil and a filter every 5K seems like a small price to pay for peace of mind, and oil changes on these are pretty easy. Will do some early & regular changes on the tranny, transfer case & diffs too.

I'll back up the no corrosion on a 2018 as a JLU Sahara owner. Zero issues with that issue, thank goodness, though I know many have dealt with it. I've been very happy with ours, and our 2024 Rubi XR.
