If You Could Go Back Before Buying Your Jeep, What Would You Do Differently?

Randomly thought about this today...If I could go back to the day before I bought for my Jeep, would I do anything differently?

Honestly, I’d probably spend a lot less money. I’d avoid a lot of unnecessary mods and stop myself from going down those random rabbit holes.

But even if I look at that most sexy Jeep with the most rational mindset, and already know all its flaws, I’d still buy it all over again. No regrets.

If you could go back to before buying your Jeep, what would you change? Less mods? Or would you do it all the same again? Or maybe no Jeep at all? (Probably not, right? lol)

I would have check the proximity locks. I meant to do that when I ordered the Jeep, and somehow missed it when checking boxes.

Before I bought my first Jeep? Well, I would have broken up with Grace Jacobi. Those few months were like an amusement park ride... that was on fire... wrapped up in a horror movie...

Nothing, the drive to pick it up in Arizona (from Texas) was amazing. Meeting the sellers between Cottonwood and Mesa was amazing. Watching my nephew and niece learn to drive a manual in an old CJ, priceless. Getting an offer to buy it at 2x my purchase price the day it arrived home was also amusing.

Only thing I might have changed is not tearing it down for a complete rebuild and just doing a piece at a time. (I really need to finish the project).

I’d have bought it sooner. I started back into a trail 4x4 rig with a 2002 Xterra, did all the hardening to the steering and suspension, lift, rigged it up like I wanted. Then I started to need OEM parts for the engine… and discovered a 1st gen Xterra isn’t the best supported vehicle out there. Had a great time, but have had a better time with the Jeep.

Nada. Had a very pleasant buying experience in '23 buying our 2-door hardtop JL. Bought a soft top and running boards at the same time. Dealer kept the JL to install the running boards and salesman delivered the JL to our home a few days later where we finalized the deal.

A few weeks later when the soft top came in the salesman and shop supv came back to the house, removed the hard top for me, took the JL back to the shop, installed the sof top and brought it back to the house. No charge.

After building a few Jeeps over the years I’m pretty happy with the last few builds. The last couple were quick and easy as I knew what I needed.
The first was the most expensive but the most fun. Took 10 years to get the first one how I wanted it, less then. Year your second and third ones.
