It started out very rocky. She wasn't sure about dinner and then decided she hated all of it. I finally offered her some cereal and she ate a bit of that. Sat for a while with her back to all of us and at some point she said she heard what I said and started smiling and laughing along with us.

BTW, Chris is good peeps in person just the same as on here. OB approved!

Nope, I sprung out of bed at 8AM, had breakfast (Cinnamon Toast Crunch!) and went right outside and started the calipers since they have to cure for 24 hours (we're going Jeeping tomorrow morning, so they'll be at about 19.5...should be enough, right?)

I can say that unions continue to spend an enormous amount of their time doing that same sort of work that saved lives in the mines. People continue to be injured at work, and unions continue to press for better systems to keep people safe, and better support to help people return to their lives and their work. No one should die at work, nor should they suffer injury.

I didn't get a raise at my first job for 3 years because the union president and Mayor Bloomberg couldn't agree on a contract. That union had forced membership, and would dictate everything about your employment contract. You were essentially unable to be fired for anything. The guy next to me would sleep all day in his cubicle. He made more than me and would get promotions first.

I hated that system because it took away my ability to set my own terms, be rewarded for my hard work, and otherwise set my own path. I think that was an example of a union that had become too powerful in my opinion.

My two cents, now that the debate is (hopefully) over.

But the upside, got to jaw with the boys all the while. Watching Chris play Picasso, then Edison. While OB demonstrated he has every tool ever made, except “miracle hole mover”. Then Jeeped Chris out to dinner and made him pay for it. It was My way of apologizing for ripping a few parts off Gabrielle. I’m such a heartless wretch.

I feel you on this. Projects sometimes go like that to keep life interesting I guess. Way better to experience it along side other like minded nerds, tho!

This could be very true. It depends on the area. In this area, non-union contractors are picketed.

Its pretty quiet with certain regulars off working on their Jeeps while the rest of us suffer with adulting. (who else is jealous?)
