Most of the hate probably coming from the 2026 Prelude owners, just imagine a 3.6 JL smoking you at the red light 😭
Is that because the Prelude owner stopped at the red and the JL speed demon just drove through it?

Speed is so relative and is dependent on what a person has to compare speed to.
When I had my 2009 JK 6 speed with the 3.8 and tried to pass someone on a highway it required a tailwind, downward slope in elevation and a prayer to the almighty. When I first test drove my Rubicon with the ecodiesel and went out on the highway cruising at 75 and moving out to pass someone with ease I smiled with delight at all of my "speed"

Like i mentioned before, a Mojave and a JLU are significantly different when it comes to suspension design and set up. A JLU without extensive mods won’t match a stock Mojave in the desert. And dirt roads don’t count as off-road.
I don't know if I would call a set of Fox 2.5 Pro series shocks a significant different suspension design and set up. Let's be honest, that's the core difference between the two. That and the hydraulic bump stops. The rest is some refinery. Hollow sway bar to reduce weight, steel knuckles, which are on several Wranglers as well now. And slightly more offset to the wheels. I would put all that as minor changes rather than significantly different. But that's my definition of it. For me it would take something like a full long arm kit or similar to be significantly different.

Driving fast isn't the goal in these things (at least for most of us...cough, cough, @Tredsdert), but that doesn't magically make them not be fun at speed. It's a vastly different experience than a supercar or other sports cars at speed, but it's still fun.

Maybe I'm simply not old enough to be bored with speed yet? That'd blow.
Alas, @Tredsdert is no longer with us… 🙁

I’ll miss his bizarre sense of jeep modification/destruction.

Thought you old timers were all about it being 15 miles uphill both ways in the snow?
When you’re an old timer everything starts to go downhill, and level feels like uphill. Like the definition of speed here for some, it defies the laws of physics.

So what you're saying is the surface does matter and that fast is relative? I wonder where we've heard that before...
No. That's not what i'm saying.

What i'm saying is that there is no context in which the Wrangler is fast. Whether on road or off road, the Wrangler gets beat in the speed department by other competitors. The discipline in which it excels is not a context in which speed applies.

When you dumb down the task so far as to make the Wrangler SEEM fast, you are completely outside the realm of actual speed.

If @Terrymo is an old timer what the heck am I? A corpse?

@Terrymo Don't you dare post the creepy corpse rising out of the ground or I'm not talking to you anymore!

You've never run rock gardens at speed? Time trials with buddies on 7+ rated trails? I'll take the JLUR over any other stock rig at king of the hammers? Rock races are a thing even if you think that's the only place that the wrangler is better than it's competitors.
