Sweet.. I may just recommend that Monday morning
I would insist on them replacing the whole windshield frame instead of repairing the dent.

They HAVE to discount it. Even if you pass on it I’m pretty sure the law requires that the dealer disclose the paintwork to any new car buyer, who would obviously insist on an additional discount. The dealer could also just sell it as used. I can remember seeing a new Porsche that had documented paintwork from transit damage. The paperwork on the defect was from Porsche Cars NA, not the dealer.
Every state is different. But most only have to disclose if it's over "x" dollars. In TN it's $1000. And the dealer cannot sell a car as used unless it is titled to someone / business first.

I don't know if it's too late, but I wouldn't budge on this at all. Either get them to replace the entire windshield and frame or don't accept the vehicle.

They have a Mojito JL sport there.. would the window frame be the same? Mine is a Rubicon.. You think they could swap the whole window assembly?

My gut says they are the same but I'm sure there are others here that might know better. That sure would be the way to go tho if it fits.

I'm not 100% sure there aren't any differences between them, but I think they'd be the same and should be interchangeable, yeah. And it'd take less than 15 minutes to do so. I don't know if there are any legal implications in doing so on behalf of the dealership, but if they want to make this right, they should.

EDIT: There may be differences with the windshield glass, so I'd check on that first.

I agree.. I really appreciate everyone’s comments and guidance
I agree. As hard as it is now to be patient to insure you get what you deserve, it seems like the right long term move. Be strong.

So I went to pick up my 2018 JLU Rubicon today at the dealership that I ordered and it was damaged in transport. What’s the thoughts on repair or order a new one?
Personally , I would accept the dent ( which is harmless ) , AND a $ 5,000 . further discount .

They gave me a pretty good deal on it a little below invoice..that would be great if they did discount it... not sure how much more they would take off though
Ask for $ 5,000 .more off , and you'll keep the dent . Jeeps always get dented anyway .

Once those morons start taking things apart , then you'll have leaks , whistles , inability to latch freedom panels , and all sorts of loads .

The sales manager from the dealership just texted me and said they are going to check Monday and see if the windshield assemblies from the sport match my rubicon. I’m hoping it fits and the paint matches. Might be a quick fix

Not if it gives you a leak or a whistle , it won't be a quick fix . If you have a harmless dent ; who cares ? Get a big $5,000. credit on your purchase and be happy .

Uh, no. That is not going to happen. That's some ridiculous unwarranted entitlement mentality bullshit right there. The dealership didn't damage it on purpose, nor did such damage cause any harm to him. It was an accident and an unfortunate inconvenience that they need to make right, but certainly nothing that requires they just eat a huge piece of profit. Replacing the windshield and offering an apology is all that is necessary here.

Excellent. Sounds like everything is on the right track.

I will not be participating in this forum as of 8/31/2018. It's been a fun ride, but it's time to move on. Take care. - Dustin
