This is insane, affects 23-25 GC 4xe’s and 24-25 JL 4xe’s. Sand from casting process could lead to engine failure (fire or loss of propulsion). News broke by Jeeps on the Run:

Here is the document from my friend who works at my local dealer.
What a terrible situation. I do not even know how they will figure out which ones were affected...
It looks a lot like the 6.2 failures with GM or even the 3.5 v6 failures in the Tundras.

How they know which ones are affected:
In manufacturing, every single part is tracked and inventoried from the point it was ordered to the point it is installed in a build. They know when and where those engine blocks were made, most likely down to the day and hour. Once they identify which batch of castings were bad, it's not hard to determine when that inventory was used on the lines and what range of products and VINs received an engine from the bad batch.
The real question is why didn't the issue get caught by QA at the engine plant before they were shipped and installed? Or QA at the receiving plant? Or did it, and they decided to use them anyway and crossed their fingers?

I don't have this recall (yet, I suppose), but I'm now considering trading in my beloved pink Jeep and taking the loss. I don't want to have to go through this every year and I want a Jeep I can safely park in my under house garage.

I am considering what’s next too. The problem is I love this Jeep, the platform is perfect for my situation. It’s hard for me to consider going to another Jeep because that would feel like I am endorsing Stellantis’s behavior.

Well, I'm thinking I'd just go back to my roots and get a manual 2-door Willys hard top. Too bad there aren't any in Fathom Blue around or I'd probably go for it.

Mojito was my second choice, but it seems like everyone and their mother has it? I don't like the Reign with the black details, so maybe the Goldilocks would be nice?

Yea I don't exactly want to give up my 2021, the hope was to keep it for 10 years+

I'm only giving it up if Jeep buys it back, but it's most likely my last FCA vehicle.

Realistically all these JLs have serious long-term problems with all that expensive electronic 💩, it was my reasoning for getting the 4xe, I was already 1 foot in a bucket of 💩 with the 2018 JL, why not both feet.

Had great luck so far with my 2019 JLUR 3.6, and with just 44K on the clock, hopefully I'll never have to buy a newer Jeep. But if I do, then there is less than a zero percent chance I'll ever consider a battery propelled version.

Jeep needs to give us a trade in bonus for the 4xe.

I love mine, but my garage is part of my basement so it has been evicted.

That was my plan too and how I justified purchasing a Jeep. My last car was a 2007 Mazda3 and that lasted 14 years. I now feel too unique having a gecko green jeep to want to replace it... although with the latest 78c recall and that sudden loss of power and the bricking on the other 4xes.... my 2021 is looking like a damn good purchase!

This is truly insane. My 4XE has been at the dealer for A7C for weeks. In that time there are now two more recalls saying it may spontaneously kill me.

So to recap:

The software may shut the engine off randomly while driving (A7C)

The battery may catch on fire (68C)

The engine may randomly self-destruct because of sand (73C)

Did I miss anything?

So I've got one year till lease end for Stellantis to figure things out with all these problems. So far no big problems in two years of driving in electric and ICE mode!

Then I see the below on a Will Prowse video about lithium ion battery fires. If this is true what it says about EV versus ICE fires, might be time to trade back to horse and buggy!
