Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
I worked in the Michigan Department of Corrections for 25+ years. Retired in 2005. I owned a Jeep for most of my career and always since retirement. I find that the 'FREEDOM' that I experience driving "JOURNEY" helps me manage stress and enjoy every trail life leads me down. Gets me to every golf course I want to play and every backwoods place I go to hunt and fish. I'll be a Jeeper until I can no longer walk in the forest.
I worked at MTF, ICF, MTU, and JCS over my career. We may have crossed paths.

Worked at DCF (The Dunes) from 1980 -87. Opened MTF in 1987 and ended my career there in 2005. I was the Athletic Manger, Primary Hostage Negotiator and a member of the Shooting Team. Also did stints filling in as Classification Director, Chaplin, Administrative Assistant and ADW Programs. I worked closely with Captain Linda Wilburn at MTF. Ring a bell?

Mine kinda sucks, not Jeepy at all, I am in computers. That's why I jump into my Jeep at every opportunity I get. Learning about thingies in my Jeep puts a big smile on my face. Transfer case fluid change here I come this weekend 🤩👍

Tell us about yourself, Jeeper!
I put 200 mi on this thing every single day...

Jeep Wrangler JL What do/did you Jeeper do for a living? 1000015084

Delivering beer all around the metroplex.

Not a CDL guy, I am what they call a On-Premise Helper. We deliver to bars and locations where you can drink on site. It's pretty cool. I like driving so it's a good job for me to have. Very physical, so the likelihood of me getting fat is pretty unlikely.

I just like driving, so anytime I can get in the Jeep and take a drive, even though I've been driving all day, is a good day for me. My Wrangler is a 2021, and my wife Subaru is a 2020. She has 80,000 mi on her Subaru, and I have 60,000 mi on my Wrangler. So in 5 years we have driven around 140,000 mi on both vehicles combined. Not too shabby! 🥰

My career centered around the phrase “to fix what is broken”. Eventually becoming “figure out why it broke and stop it from breaking.” Hence my innate desire to over-engineer just about every damn thing I touch .
This has basically been my path.
Built websites for a long time. After being out of work for 7 months, did a stint (5 years) in industrial maintenance as an automation technician, working on electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems in addition to their various software systems, before essentially moving on to data analysis and QA. Now I'm back in IT, but it's more managing web based software systems and training users.

Thankfully, I do not have 8 bosses but I totally worked for a company like that in the past. This movie was painfully accurate even 20 years later, and I'm sure still is today.

We worked together then. I worked at MTF from March of 89 to 1991. I broke uo a fight in D-Unit on my initial tour with Captain Wilburn and dropped the prisoner that assaulted Captain Wilburn on my first day at the facility. Then transferred to ICF in i991. Days gone by for sure.

Feels good to be out of the joint for 20 years now. Still watch my 6 all the time as my 4.5 years as a C/O has served me well and at 72, while I'm no longer 'bullet-proof' I'm still confident that I'm as tough as I need to be. Hope you enjoy the Jeep Life as much as I still do. Be Well. Denny Oosterbaan
