I finally gave up on waiting on a reasonably priced hydraulic jack and bought another Hilift. Now I’ve gotta figure out how to carry/store this 70lb lump. I’m not stoked on exterior mounts, also not willing to mount it overhead on the roll cage as my one year old is always in the backseat. I have a cargo shelf in the back so thinking of mounting it to the rail closest to the tailgate. The other empty space would be under the back seat; anyone seen or used any type of underseat mount for the Hilift?

When you put your back seats down, they go to the floor. So if you had it there, you can't drop your back seats all the way down.

No worries there. Have my kids car seat installed so seats never go down.

I’ve got a 48” hilift, I wrap it in a harbor freight moving blanket to prevent rattles, and shove it under the rear seat. It’s rode there for 3 years without issue. Plus if you need to do a trail fix, the moving blanket is good to lay on.

It’s good you’re taking the safety of mounting it seriously. What is it about mounting it to the rear cargo shelf that makes you feel more comfortable than the Dominion offroad Hilift mount on the roll bar? I’ve not seen any available under seat mounts, but this is a good idea if the seat to floor mounting hardware could be used.

I’ve got the Dominion on my JL and like it, but I’ve had to zip tie several places to avoid the rattle. It still makes noise on a bumpy road

I've always had one since circa 1978...dangerous bastards, I've used as a lift and come along. Out here never carry on trails, too dangerous and we have enough trees we just use a winch and snatch blocks to lift something up if precarious.

I used my highlight last weekend to lift a trailer tongue up, they are great tools.

I shake my head when I see tires on top, hilift Jack's on hoods et.

When I'm stuck and tired, wrestling heavy shit sucks.

On the cargo shelf it would be lower, likely sit at about the top of where the tailgate is. It would also be much more removed from the passenger compartment; if it were to come loose there’s a lot holding it back from doing major damage. The roll bar mount is nice and out of the way but that’s a lot of weight and potential energy hanging over the backseat.

My back seats are removed for the cargo dog lock boxes, but I like the idea of it being bolted securely under the seat.

If I come up with a solution I’ll post it. There’s a lot of stuff under that area so I’m guessing drilling into the floor is a no go. Might be able to tap something off the seat brackets.

Update: Not sure why anyone hasn't tried this yet but a HiLift Jack actually fits perfectly under the back seat and can actually lock itself in if the switch is left up.

I used some bungies to secure it back as far as possible and used the attachment part locked into the set support. I'm going to see if I can get some supports fabbed up to attach to the seat supports and hold the jack in place.

Yeah. Thinking a standoff bolted to the seat supports in the front with a 180 degree bend around the jack with a thumbscrew through the middle. Two of those should keep it pretty solid.
