This talk of heavy drops gone wrong reminds me of my experience back in 1972. Back before "All American Week" was called "All American Week" we were setting up to demonstrate a typical airborne assault for the audience, which included our families, along with brass from the Pentagon and folks from Congress. The prograrm included an artillery barrage, followed by a heavy drop, followed by a battalion mass assault - my battalion drew the short straw that day.

Anyway, some of this was told to me by my wife, who was in the audience. It started with the artillery barrage: there was 6 shots heard from over a hill, followed by 5 splashes out in the impact area, with shot #6 hitting the parking lot behind the bleachers! OOPS!

Next came the heavy drop - all went well, except for one lonely Sheridan tank: the chutes failed to deploy and it buried itself (in embarrasment I'm sure!) in the drop zone. At this point the announcer tries to assure the audience: "We seem to have experienced situations that can actually occur in a real combat situation - please be assured that our paratroopers, who will be arriving shortly, will be perfectly safe." OOPS again!

A few minutes later we arrive over the drop zone - fortunately we pulled off the jump with no injuries!

Actually, joking aside, I very rarely drank during my 30 Army years, and I don’t drink *that* much in retirement. -cough-
What no game of getting everyone drunk and see how they do their morning PT !!

Back in my day (and a lot on this thread) we were not stupid enough to provide the prosecutor with EXHIBIT A
Doug, pray tell; what has ANYONE on this thread provided for ANY prosecution??

I'm disturbed about the complete lack of explosives and full auto .50 cal in this endeavor. 🤔

I didn't even hear duck tape...

Looks like it came out pretty good.
Thanks brother; pretty much perfect on the bumper, I would say. Regarding the scuffed paint on the fender flare, I will see, out of curiosity, how much will buff out. I have a friend who is an expert on that. Whatever’s left, I will probably use that as an experiment with touch-up paint. I’m not concerned if I make it look worse. I like the JAFO scars anyway😁

Scott, your obsession with crew-served weapons and incendiary/explosive devices concerns me greatly.

Weird. Its your lack of that concerns me..
Scott, I’m all about that in a wartime setting - which I’m not currently in. I’m not casual or funny about that in this context, my friend, although your last post is funny!
