TLDR: Are there any aftermarket replacement hinges or shims or anything else that cure the door hinge & hood corrosion issue?

We're all familiar with the door hinge and hood corrosion issues. After my second repair under warranty my Jeep looks good again... for now. I have no idea if the Zinc shims were added per the most recent TSB.

I want to keep my Jeep for a very long time but know I'm not doing an $8,000 paint job and restoration every couple years to keep it looking good. Has the aftermarket responded with a three figure fix to a problem I'd think the of people have?

Thanks.

When you purchase the hinges they have the zinc shims on them. I purchased Mopar hinges and you can see the shim on all of them. I am in the process of getting mine fixed. Stellantis is covering 70% which I am pleased with given I am outside my initial 5 year warranty. Repairs are being done at a Jeep dealer with an auto body shop. They are starting with all fresh parts and then will repaint the exterior. I’m getting 4 new doors, tailgate, hood, and windshield frame plus new hinges for all of those parts I listed. Total cost to me is $5,700.

You can get aftermarket aluminum door hinges and you can get a steel hood that looks just like a factory aluminum hood.

There are no aftermarket tailgates or front windshield frames that I know of so if you have corrosion there you're still screwed.

Mine have been repainted twice. But I don't think I have shims. Send pic if you can.

Here’s the shim. Not an actual picture of mine but one I found but literally same hinge as mine. Interestingly enough is the factory body side hinges originally installed on my Jeep did have shims on them. I’m assuming they were zinc. The original factory door side hinges had not shims and the metal on the body, door, and underside of the hinges were all bare underneath. Cheap asses.
