I bought a SteerSmarts Track Bar (Yeti XD Adjustable, #75033001) for my 2018 JL Sport S, no modifications. I was told by a local shop that the track bar was too big to install and that I would need to lift the Jeep.

I emailed SteerSmarts and a technician was positive that the track bar could be installed on my Jeep. The fully collapsed track bar appears about 3/4 inch shorter than the existing OEM track bar.

1. Has anyone in the community installed this track bar on an unmodified (suspension) JL?
2. Does anyone know (measured) the mounting distance from a removed OEM track bar?

I want to see if it has been done before finding a new shop for installation.

Thanks.

That Trackbar will work fine with the stock suspension, no worries. I'd have someone else take a look at it. I've installed dozens of these trackbars and the only real issues I've come across is with certain diff covers or badly aligned/centered axles post-alignment.

Try a different shop. They'll get it to work.

Thank you. I did not want to return it. The instructions say that, after removal of the old, the Jeep should be 'settled' by shaking. I suspect the installer did not and concluded the bar was too long. Again, thanks for the well credentialed information.

You’re welcome, man. This can all be done and should be done with the weight of the Jeep on the ground. This should not be done with it in the air on a lift. Good way to do it is to put the front axle up on Jack stands. Torquing of both bolts needs to be done on the ground.

From the center of the hole to the center of the hole the OEM track bar off my 24 JLUR measures 33 3/4 inches.

Front track bar is super easy to swap/install with minimal hand tools so I'd just do it yourself.

Steer Smarts track bar will work on non lifted Jeeps. If the clamps are too big, they do offer a low profile clamp for the front track bar. Find a different shop.

They are thick (hence being HD) and might require some trial and error to prevent the collar bolts from rubbing, but they do fit.
