id be interested but it seems like it may be a little too tough for me. i only have the junky oem lsd in the rear, with a locker up front. watching some videos on YT, it looks like there are some tough spots!
Sidewinder will be tough for all of us and I don't know that any of us will make it all the way through Bronco Peak (still have to research mandatory vs. optional obstacles on that one). You can always use Sidewinder as a litmus test and see if you want to tackle Bronco Peak. That being said, I know that the trail is a bit of a haul for you though.

OK - looks like it's me and @Inkhero. We'll be meeting at the rest stop off the 8 at 8am (https://maps.app.goo.gl/i9rTojDVwi3TZZYf7) then heading into the park. If anyone wants to catch us last minute, that's where we'll be.

Will take lots of photos of us probably working on our winch technique :).

Looks like it'll be some fun trails. Looking forward to the trip report!

Trail Report for Corral Canyon - Sidewinder! Trail is packed with obstacles from beginning to end and took us about 2 1/2 hours, but we were taking photos and checking things out here and there. Off-camber sections were tippy and we saw around 25 degrees camber at the worst points. Most of the trail is grippy rock that's fun to crawl up and ease down, but some of the boulders and ledges are pretty big. There are some sharp corners and winding turns that may be difficult for longer wheelbases. One of the main attractions is a sketchy 35 degree drop that we gambled on, but were both surprised how planted it actually felt. Looks way worse than it feels, I imagine it's even sketchier for shorter wheelbases. Near the end Craig attempted a gnarly buggy line and it was awesome to watch, haha! The trail ends at Bobcat Meadow Campground that is a sweet lunch spot and potential camping area. I think we agreed the trail is definitely a 7/10 and on par with the harder Big Bear BOH trails.

Today was a great day of wheeling. Sidewinder is such a great trail. It's hard, constant, great views, lots of variety. @Inkhero and I were having a great time. This seems like it will be a great summer trail since it's at altitude. It was around 60 and sunny all day - we were talking and we'd love to get a camping trip together in this area with the group. Let me know if people are up for this.

We ended up just doing Sidewinder. Our fun-meter was pegged so we were going to try an easy trail to just cruise. We tried to get to Gunslinger but had to hit the tail end of Bronco Peak to get there. Bronco Peak is no joke - we ended up turning around because the risk of body damage is very high in the short section we tried. I *will* come back to try this trail in the future but it's definitely a doors-off trail.

I tried this buggy line that I had no business being on. This trail overall is a 7 with optional obstacles that are 10. I'm pretty sure this was the 10. I needed stickier tires, more clearance, and probably stretched wheelbase to make this. In other words, a buggy :).

I'll be doing this trail again. Like I said, I'll start throwing some dates out for a possible camping trip in this area.

Thanks for the photos @Craigger! That camera really captures the scale and steep angle of those obstacles. Lot of fun going up and down! 🤘

Cool trail—thanks for sharing! Interesting character with those giant mounds of granite(?).

I wonder how many degrees it takes to rate as “tippy” on the @SadRobot scale. 🤔

I feel tippy at about 20+ degrees. There's actually an obstacle called 'Tippy' on Sidewinder that had me at 24 degrees that I crawled through. @Inkhero took a lower line that started flatter then slammed him down to 25 degrees when his rear tire came off the ledge. He thought he was going to roll - definite pucker moment. I don't know what the tipping angle is for our particular builds but I don't think I want to test it any further than we did.

I'm not sure of the exact degree because I don't have one of those roll and pitch menus BUT I can usually tell it's tippy when I instinctively say "Oh shit this isn't good".

Sahara and Rubicon owners happily pay for the false sense of security the off-road pages provide. “Oh I’ve been at 28 degrees plenty of times… We’ll be fine as long as we don’t hit 30.:movember:
