Walked past my 2020 Willys this morning and noticed a huge construction nail sticking out of the front passenger tire. Drove it to Pep Boys (it's around the corner from home) thinking it would be a quick fix. Turned into finding another nail in the rear passenger tire that can't be fixed because the tread is too worn and feathering. Rear shock on that side is also leaking. now I'm looking at needing to replace 2 rear shocks and 4 new tires (the other back tire is bad as well). They don't carry the Firestone destinations or the Bilstein shocks so 4 Goodyear Wrangler AT 255/75/17 and Monroe shocks would total out to $2300. Jeep dealer would be around 3K for stock destinations and stock shocks. This is in Los Angeles.
Question: If I'm replacing 4 tires and 2 shocks, should I look at any other options? I drive mostly city and maybe a little snow right now. Was thinking maybe Ko2s or wildpeak and maybe going for same size or up to 285/70R17. Price is an issue and can't factor in a lift at this point.

thanks.

Pending you are for sure out of 3yr 36k warranty and couldn't just get a free shock replacement at the dealership, a cheap option would be looking for Rubicon take off shocks on your local facebook market place.

When price is an issue, the cheapest tires are going to be 285/70/17 KO2s that someone took off their Rubicon and is selling on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, etc.

Edit: You can also likely find the Firestone Destination 255/75/17 takeoffs from another Willys too. Those may be even cheaper.

You can check craigslist or facebook for takeoff tires, or you can check the for sale forum here.

I bought a 2018 Sport and put Rubicon takeoff tires on it (but not wheels), I gave my takeoff tires to the tire shop for the labor to mount and balance my 5 tires. If you can find someone who took tires off of their Sport model those should be really cheap.

Another option is to buy tires from Discount Tire or Tire Rack and have them shipped to you. They have a network of installers around the country that they work with.

I haven't checked tire prices in awhile but I seem to remember that even the larger KO2s new were under $300 each. It sounds like your store is overpricing things.

If you were closer I’d sell you my 10k miles wheels, tires and full suspension for way less than that! Unfortunately mine is a Sahara though…

I got all 5 of my Rubicon take off wheels and tires (about 3k miles on them when received) for $900. I have since put 18k more miles on them. lol

Definitely the way to go. The Willys Sport already has Rubicon shocks, so doesn't even have to worry about changing anything yet.

For $2,300 I can get 5 285/70R17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/Ts (XL load range not the ridiculous E range) and 4 OME shocks.

Way better solution than anybody else is trying to sell you. Bonus it'll ride real nice and actually be quite a bit better on and off road.

If you want to save money there are easier ways to do it as well.

Like others have said find something locally or you can order thru Tire Rack and also Amazon and get them delivered to Pepboys and installed since they are a authorized installer. Don't waste your money on Monroe shocks go with oem or better.

You can buy 4 Rancho 5000s and 5 new Toyo Open Country AT III tires for under $2k, with tax and labor. Check with your local 4x4 shop. Rancho 5000s are their entry shock, not expensive and much better than your OEM red shocks.

Being that you have a 2019, there is zero reason for you to go to the dealer except for what’s still covered under your soon to expire powertrain warranty.

My only beef with rancho shocks is you give up suspension travel. The standard Wrangler fit 5000 series only have something like 5.4 inches of stroke.

As I’m falling into the tire and shock abyss, can anyone tell me how to know if they’ll fit? My 2020 Willys is stock, no lift. I’m reading I can fit 285/75/17s some places and other places say no. And what load rating should I be looking for? I’m afraid to order wrong.
I’m looking at?
1. Toyo Open Country A/T III 285/75/17
2 .Falken Wildpeak AT3W 285/75/17
3. BFG KO2 285/75/17
All these can be downsized to the stock 255/75/17 if needed but thought I’d try something new.
