Hi,

I just signed on my 24 Sahara 4xe yesterday, it came with the Power Box (no delete), but when I plug it into the charging connector the Jeep doesn't recognize it. It shows "Problem with charger" on the instrument LCD and the "Vehicle" light flashes on the Power Box. I can find absolutely no user manual, quick start guide, anything on Jeep's website or the app.

Even though it didn't show a delete on the Monroney label, the actual Power Box wasn't in the Jeep when I picked it up. The dealership had to steal one out of another Jeep, so I'm a little worried that for some reason it isn't equipped to handle a Power Box.

Am I doing something wrong? I figured I could just plug it in and the Jeep would recognize it, but maybe not.

I would be concerned about whether your Jeep has the right IDCM to work with the power box. If you believe this communication then signs don't look good: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/power-box-on-4xe.116308/post-2454824

The roll-out of this feature has been an absolute dumpster fire.

That's what I'm worried about. I wanted this specific Jeep because it showed the Power Box on the sticker, and it being a Sahara I thought I was safe.

I'm going to try pulling the IDCM fuse and maybe the negative LVB cable to reset everything. I just wasn't sure if I was missing a setting or something.

Right on. Also, if you haven't found it yet, check page 16 of the '24 owner's manual. It's called the "off-board power panel" in there.

Thanks for that, I was searching for Power Box since that's what Jeep calls it everywhere else.

I heard back from Jeep Customer Care and they confirmed that it wasn't on the build sheet, despite it being on the Monroney. When I picked the Jeep up from another state (dealer trade, I work for a dealership group), it didn't have the actual box in it, I showed that it was on the Monroney and they went and robbed one from another vehicle. I'm hoping that when Jeep says it's not on the build sheet, he just means it didn't come with the box itself, not that it's not actually capable of using it.

I will say that on the July order sheets the power box delete is listed as "vehicle to load and power box delete." By my read "vehicle to load" is the IDCM and "power box" is the external panel which I interpret as either both come together or neither does.

I hope yours ends up being compatible, otherwise Jeep screwed you over and the dealer screwed whoever buys the Jeep your power box was pulled from.

I've got a Willys on order that should be arriving any day. I'm torn between blowing the deal if it doesn't come with/doesn't work with the power box vs talking delivery and hoping whatever class action suit that should come from this will result in a retrofit.

Well that gives me hope. The only delete listed is the alternator.

Will have to dive into it more after work now that I have some actual instructions.

I have an order in for a gas Sahara , but wanted to get a quote on a 4xe and maybe put in a second order to see which one I’d get first. I was told that the power box is not compatible with the Sahara 4xe , that I would need to build out the HA to receive it. I was disappointed

Wow. So they originally said ALL 24 4xe, then Sahara, Rubicon, and High Altitude, and now only HA and Rubicon? At this rate they'll say it never existed and try to gaslight us.

When were you told this?

I was told 2 days ago, so I didn’t put an order in. I want the power box

Update:

I was finally able to get it to work. I used a heat gun on high (about 12 amps) for a minute to test.

Shout out to @JesseT for showing me what the manual called it so I could read up a bit. I'm pretty sure my Jeep wouldn't recognize it because the internal battery on the Power Box itself was dead. Yes, there's an internal battery that needs to be charged via USB-C for it to communicate with the vehicle.

So do we leave it plugged into a charged jeep to get it charging or does it need to be physically charged at home with a USB cord first? And does it die over time? This sounds so dumb..
