I have a question for you that has bothered me since the start of this

Apparently this is a safety issue/recall

Are we expected to not drive our jeeps for 6-9mos (or more), or do you advise to keep driving them?

Please let me know

If we're advised not to drive them, will Stellantis pay for a rental?

So where does that leave all of us? I am trying to purchase a rig that is manual, does that mean I can’t drive it????

This is what's currently posted on NHTSA website:

Remedy
FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected vehicles to replace the clutch assembly and update software to provide escalating visual and audible warnings to the operator, ultimately resulting in the potential reduction of engine torque capability when clutch assembly temperatures rise to a level that may damage the inner pressure plate.

What kind of bullshit corrective action is this? The driver gets an early warning that the pressure plate is overheating? What do you do then if you're in the middle of a busy 4-lane freeway at 70mph?

Fix = derate power via software

Let's not actually fix the root cause being a shitty design.

It's against federal law for the dealer to allow you to take delivery of it with an open recall. That 150 page thread has a few folks that have 2023 and 2024s on order that have started being assembled, though they haven't heard whether they have the new clutch assembly or if they're just being built to have the clutch replaced at dealers.

The recall states it's a new assembly and a software flash. I could've sworn someone had a document (maybe in the Clutch Recall thread) that said it's further logic to detune if slipping is identified. The current software only detunes the engine if it senses the clutch slipping and is not a blanket "detune"

At this point is the clutch problem actually an official "recall"? I got a letter from FCA a couple months ago informing me that there's a problem with the clutch and FCA/Stellantis Engineers are working on it, but the legalese wording of the letter stopped short of calling this a recall and asking me to contact my local dealer.

I am sure this has been stated in many of the threads: why is it 2023 and Jeep (and Ford) can't make a clutch / manual transmission that works? And why is it I can't buy a 2024 Sport or Willys with a 3.6 and an auto? If I want a 2024 3.6 sport or willys I have to get a manual that may or may not work. Why?

They are probably attempting to use of their inventory of the troublesome transmission/clutch parts prior to actually fixing the problem.

Hello,

We cannot advise anyone from driving their vehicle. Should you or anyone notice any symptoms, we recommend notifying your certified dealer. We are not offering any loaners on this recall, should there be any changes, we will notify all affected customers. Thank you
