Sorry if this should be in another forum. Just curious if anyone has done this. I’d like to get the basic Safety Group (blind spot detector and rear back up camera) installed professionally on my 2015 Wrangler. The Safety Package on the new Wranglers is $1395 so has anyone had one put in aftermarket and if so who should I look for to do it (my mechanic doesn’t do it) How much does it cost with factory parts and labor? Would my dealer do it and if dealerships do it how much should they charge give or take. Thanks!

This is a JL (2018+) wranglers forum, so unless someone here happens to also have knowledge in JK wranglers, you may have better luck asking in a general wrangler forum or JK forum.

The camera isn’t that difficult, but the sensors can be. The best way to do it would be to trade for a 2019 or later JL. All of this equipment is ran through the Jeep’s computer, so adding it is done outside the operating system that the Jeep comes with. A backup camera is easy to add. Sensors a little more difficult. Cross traffic and blind spot, forget it on a JK.

I have a 23 JL in my case I have the safety and the advanced safety love them both. If you can do it it’s worth it. Might be hard to do

Ahh, hence the JL/JLU. I’m a newbie here ?and all I saw was “General Questions Forum” This forum isn’t as intuitive as I hoped it would be especially using my phone so I’m pretty much wandering around aimlessly which I prefer to do in my jeep. Here, not so much, lol. Would you happen to have a link to the JK forum for my “old girl” (although she only has 28,000, practically an infant =))
If not, no worries, I’ll continue to stumble about. Thanks so much!

I’m considering it but my 2015 is barely used, only has 28,000 miles and is pretty much paid off. The prices for the new ones are pretty much insane. I never even thought about the blind spot detectors but after recently driving in someone’s new one in my usual everyday traffic in crazy NYC/NJ it’s a total game changer. Ty for the feedback!

Hi Kimberly, the following forum might be more appropriate for your question:

I get that yours is paid for, or nearly so. However, wheels are one of the easiest things to change. But, I don't blame you for not wanting to drop $40-45k for a new one. But, you’d be surprised how much yours is worth.

I wouldn’t be surprised at how much mine is worth =)) I’ve got that part down. Now to trade in or sell privately is another issue. Ultimately I’m not even sure if I like the new redesigned look, especially since they are so much more expensive than they were prior to the overhaul. May have to take one for a test drive and see if I fall in love, and get 6% below invoice ;-))

You could also stop buy your local higher end car audio or accessory store and see about having those safety items added. Although, they usually don’t work near as well a factory integrated equipment.
