Here's a good review of the ACT clutch.
Thanks for posting this, I really enjoyed it. The reviewer shares my sentiment that the stock setup is fine. Like him, I’ve had almost 60,000 trouble free miles and the lightness and somewhat vague engagement is something I adapted to rather easily. That said, his enthusiasm over the improvements that the ACT gives both on and off-road have me really excited.

I appreciate that he tried to quantify pedal feel. In the video he says the stock pedal feels like 10lbs of resistance while pushing to the floor and only 4lbs traveling back. Like I said, I got used to that, but after getting in my son’s manual I did immediately notice how his has the same resistance (probably 2x the resistance of my Jeep) in both directions. If ACT achieved that balance, and it sound like they have, it’s a definite improvement.

Can’t wait until my install on Tuesday!

Also feels good to support an American business that seems to really go above and beyond for their customers. Dirk’s willingness to join our forum and share his expertise in a non-sales-pitch way is very cool. Heck, he’s even selling a $10 spring to help out those who aren’t ready to upgrade.

NHRA was in town and I saw these. They're literally throwing them on the ground and mines brand new and broke. Reckon they'll fit?

Not sure when I am going to get it installed yet. Sometime after the beginning of July most likely.

I have been staring at my phone all day waiting for my mechanic to call. He closes in 90 mins. I hope it’s done today!

Packed and shipped a lot better than Jegs! Mine arrived covered in tape with no outer box.

Get this… after my package got lost they issued a new order. Then the package was found and so I called and had them cancel the duplicate order. A few days later my Bank alerted me to a large refund. Jegs goofed and refunded my money even though I had the clutch in hand. At least one buddy said, “a free clutch is twice as good as a paid one!” I just couldn’t do that, though, so had to call them again. Based on that final conversation they never would have noticed… ah, well, maybe some good karma will come my way. (Each phone call was at least 30 minutes, mostly on hold. Argh.)

I am thinking I might have made the right decision. :) Good on you for calling them. I would have too. Karma would have me worried about the new one just as much as the old one.

Shiiit. I just called for an update. “It’s going fine, but need to finish it tomorrow morning. It’ll be done early, before 10.”

It's done! My mechanic says, "It drives like a real Jeep, now. I think you’ll be very pleased."

Now I have to get through morning meetings before I can go pick it up. Stupid work!

I'll make a new thread with my impressions once I get some time behind the wheel.

Just picked up the Jeep. Wow!! Pedal feel is perfect. The review video from @AZ Hella is accurate. Like that reviewer, I also notice that the engine/exhaust sounds different. Different in a good way - beefier sounding. Must be due to added inertia?

Shifts are smoother, especially 1-2. Launching is obviously a lot easier/more precise. Hill starts are easier. Rev matching downshifts is easier.

Yeah, in a nutshell it's easier to drive than stock.

I will submit receipts for reimbursement with zero hope, and when they deny me I'll log a complaint with the NHTSA. Nonsense to acknowledge the stock setup may cause injury, but then say we should just suck it up until the fall.

Picture of my old one. I couldn't tell you if it looks good, bad, or indifferent. All my mechanic said was that it looked "unremarkable" and "it has too many damn springs." He very much liked the new one, and commented on its pretty yellow color. :)

Thanks @Actman for the install tips (I printed them, but no idea if mechanic used them).

Glad you are pleased with the results of our clutch! Thanks for posting your feedback. Actually your stock clutch looks like you have been kind to it. Now you don't have to worry about that any more!

Worth it for the cool keychain. ?

I'm confused, so how do I get notified that parts are available and ready for me to schedule service?

Am I supposed to not drive my jeep until I hear from them?

1) They'll send you a letter

2) I figure most folks are driving theirs, my letter from Jeep doesn't advise against driving it. I'm enjoying the eff out of mine until Jeep gets their act together.
