The OEM Jeep wheels have a 71.54 mm pilot bore. I wouldn't go any smaller than that. The bigger issue I have with the backup camera is that my aftermarket wheels have quite the offset and I am running fat 35" tires. Therefore, the backup cam view is slightly obstructed.

Could someone actually mic the bore of the camera itself? It should be considerably smaller than the pilot bore since most wheels have a smaller bore at the outside for the little cap.

I wouldnt let the camera decide what wheel you get. it's easy enough to remove the camera. You have mirrors, right? Backup cameras are stupid anyway.

I’m hoping it’s “easy” to remove as I’m planning on removing mine once my Jeep is built (still in “D” status) so that I can use the spare tire for my bike rack and trasharoo when in the backcountry. Thinking the same way that why would I need a backup camera on a 2 door, the sight lines are pretty good all around on my JK

Hey S207/307, could you please post pics of how much your backup camera sticks out of your wheels?

Here you go. It's right around 1.94". It's a tiny bit less than that, I couldn't get the calipers perfectly perpendicular to the shaft because they were too long and the tire interfered. I also wouldn't want to try to lift a 100lb wheel/tire combo onto a shaft that it fit by a thousandth of an inch, so think of this as an upper bound of the diameter. :)

Thx! I got the same wheels so I guess I'll have the same issue with the tire blocking the image, but I won't have the safety package so no warning lights or chimes.

One thing you can do, not related to the warning issue, is painting the center of the wheel black, the area that's exposed under the platic cap. That will make it "blend in" more.

Yep, I'm going to add a tight fitting black rubber ring around the inner stalk of the camera. That will fill in the exposed parts, but not interfere with the field of view.
As far as the ParkSense warning tones, I just disable them for the most part. I've heard other have had luck getting it to "recalibrate" / adjust to the tire poking out...but so far I haven't been able to duplicate that.

I used rubber chimney/pipe flashing from Lowe's ($3) to ring the camera stalk with a "black cone" (kinda like one of those Elizabethan collars a dog would wear after a surgery).
It turned out alright
