From what I can see, it's a real crap shoot. In very broad terms, if you go by rail, you seem to get loaded and sent off most quickly, but then you move very slowly. If you go by truck, you can wait much longer to get loaded (e.g. @Sweetwater), but actual travel time is much faster. The worst seems to be if you do both and you have to sit in a transload yard (e.g. Allorton). Note, all rail shipments end up being transloaded to trucks for the final short leg to the dealer. What I'm referring to here is when there is a long distance leg by train followed by another long distance leg by truck.

My trip is all rail over a distance of 1100 miles, and it looks like my JLR should be dropped off at my dealer tomorrow. That's just shy of three weeks after I went KZ. @jman was closer to two weeks, and I think his was trucked the entire distance. I believe @LydiaSP613 was about the same. And then there's our unfortunate friend @Sweetwater, who's been waiting a month for his JL to travel 80 miles by truck from the factory to his dealer.

The closest to what I call nominal would be in the 2-3 week range, but there are lots of outliers. Distance does matter, and if your vehicle is headed to the west coast, 4 weeks seems common.
Thank you, warc1. Gosh, we will miss you! Can you pass on your expertise to someone before you take off in the sunset with your jeep please??

What to expect from here?? I called jeepchat and I'm in 'F' status. I've tried not to check too often because it makes it seem to take longer. But, now that I'm out of D1, maybe I should pay closer attention.
I'm pretty loaded except hardtop liner, smokers group and trail management system. Could anyone give me a realistic estimate??
thanks,

You're in build, and if all goes well, you'll be in the hands of the shipping contractor in less than two days. The only thing that can trip you up is if you fail inspection and go into "I" status. That can take days to weeks to resolve. I just gave my take on shipping times six posts up.

thanks for the reply. Question: From what I've seen on this site, I've not seen many color matched hardtops/fender builds. Have I missed that? Or have these orders been pushed back. I ordered a week after you and I see you're still on hold.
thanks

And if you’re in the southeast, deliveries are pretty much nonexisten. Florida seems to get a trickle...

For a period of time, there were public posts from one of the JL factory managers that has since gone silent. He mentioned a couple of times that they were having significant issues with paint matching the plastic finished tops to with the painted metal bodies. Certain colors were worse than others. White and silver seemed to be resolved quickly and they began showing up early. Mojito was supposedly one of the worst, and this issue was said to be, in part, why that color was delayed on all configurations.

I don't know this for sure, but I believe the issue is now resolved and all colors of painted hard tops are now in production.

I ordered a week after you and I see you're still on hold.
Not sure if that's directed at me. While I had a hell of a wait to get into build status, I'm not on hold. My JLR was built and shipped and I'm just waiting for it to be loaded from our city distribution yard to my dealer that is five miles away. Hope to get it tomorrow.

good info. is there any resource to be able to take a look at a map and figure out the likely route based on your zip code or region?

I'm heading to deming NM, and i'd like to be able to at least understand what the route should be if possible

Just chatted with Jeep and my jeep is built and on rail but no shipping details so no ETA. She said the shipping companies are so overloaded that they are way behind on shipping so they cannot give an ETA.

Since you're on the tracking site whose name we may not speak, note that they have kept tracking data from a number of past years online. Load up the individual pages and use your browser's "Find on page" function to search for your destination to see there have been previous deliveries there. If you find one, it should list the various stops along the way.

I'm guessing you won't find one specifically for Deming, since it looks to be a small centre. However, you may have luck with Albuquerque or El Paso, either of which will likely be the rail destination before it ships to Deming. I found two deliveries for my destination of Winnipeg (pop: 700k) listed over the past two years.

^ Hang in there Mark. It's going to be worth it in the end!! Just think how good life is, when a stressor in life is waiting for a new jeep to be built and delivered.
