I dropped off my 21 JLUR for (what I am assuming will be) an aux battery replacement. Have all the signs/symptoms. First time I’ve taken it in since getting it.

Just realized I forgot to unmarry and remove my Tazer. They said they “officially” couldn’t give me an appointment until 8/24, but if I dropped it off they could probably work it in “in the next few days”…. ? we’ll see.

Should I stop back by tomorrow after work and act like I need to get something out and unmarry and remove it? Not worry about it? Thoughts?

@AMT

You need to unmarry and remove the Tazer JL and reconnect the 2 connections at the security gateway.

IF you leave the 2 security gateway connections disconnected the Service Department's WiTechll will not be able to deal with/talk to you JL.
.............

ALSO, while you are there.. Ask to talk to the Service Manager. Politely tell the Service Manager you are very concerned about the battery(2) health on your JL ..... Ask that they LOAD TEST both batteries and let you see the load test results.

Without load test results no one knows what the health status of the batteries is.

By the way, Load Testing requires that the batteries be separated and both fully charged separately. Takes about 2 hrs. per battery to charge and load test.

IF, if they do not provide load test results (2 separate printouts) they did not load test both batteries. Again, charging & load testing the 2 batteris, will take 4 hrs. total time .... 2 hrs. for each battery.

My local dealer is as bad as they get; they make a big deal out of any little thing.

One time they were giving me grief about the Mopar lift; they didn’t even remember they had installed it. That’s how stupid they are.

They didn’t notice the Tazer on mine. They probably saw the little black box and thought it was a Lo-Jack...or an unscented air freshener... ?

I wouldn’t worry about it.

You don’t need to give them any explanation at all other than you need to access your Jeep to retrieve something you left in it that you need. Unmarry, remove, leave.

Reviving an old thread....

I have the Superships Flashcal...identical to the Tazer in install...been there since day one when I went to 35" tires. My dealer has never said anything. In fact, they have continued to do updates to my system. I'm guessing they unplug and then plug it all back in.

My dealer actually told me they expect people to mod their Jeeps...that's what the Jeep is all about they said.

They can't communicate with the truck if the Tazer is in place. Though I do remember a recent update that supposedly changed that.

They may not care if it's there, but at the very least they need to be able to plug it in.

One "option" on the Tazer is the extension cable. I don't consider it to be an option. It changes removing and reinstalling the Tazer from a major pain in the ass to just a quick task. Well worth the $40.

If you ever want to add something to the OBD port, be it flashcal or dashcam, a Y splitter is very handy. Pull your OBD plug from the mount (it just snaps in), plug the Y into it, plug in whatever you want to one of the splits, tuck it up out of the way, and snap the other end back into the factory mount. Easy!

they can still communicate with the SGW with the Tazer in place, I forgot to remove mine once for an oil change and they had no problem.

Yea Ive had mine in twice and never removed the Tazer and had 0 issues. Also talked to the Service Manager the first time I came in (missing steering stablizer bolt from the factory way to go Jeep) and come to find out the whole dealership is full of modded Jeeps and they do a ton of modifications there for customer cars. He said they do everything they can to take care of whatever pops up and so long as its not egregious (like having 44s and wanting a broken axle replaced) they will work with customers.

@Rustynail11

So you are saying you know for a fact that the dealership Tech, hooked up a/the WiTechll to your JL when it was there and he did a computer update, etc..

You may have seen a Service Writer hook up a simple OBDll scan tool/reader and use that with out issue... I believe that as I know that is doable.

You are making a big mis-step if you or someone else, is not unmarrying the Tazer JL, prior to a dealership Tech hooking up the WiTechll and doing updates, etc. on your JL.

I would venture to say that the dealership Techs at your dealership are like you, unaware why you would want to unmarry the Tazer JL..

I would have pulled the whole jeep out and just bypassed the aux battery.
