they can still communicate with the SGW with the Tazer in place, I forgot to remove mine once for an oil change and they had no problem.
They definitely can't communicate with the SGW module, but they don't need to. The Tazer bypasses the SGW. You have it completely unplugged when the Tazer is installed.

Great points everyone I had the same questions I run a tazer jl mini as I did metal cloak game changer 3.5" lift with red rock socks with 37" tires. Only thing I use the tazer for was changing tire size.

I took my Jeep in recently for the water pump fix, an oil change, and a tire rotation. I told the service guy that I had a Tazer installed, and if he had to do any computer updates, I needed to know immediately. None were scheduled, so he said to leave it, as it was MY Jeep and I should be able to modify it how I want. He plugged a scanner into the OBDII port to scan for codes. That was it. No need to remove.

You don’t need to give them any explanation at all other than you need to access your Jeep to retrieve something you left in it that you need. Unmarry, remove, leave.
I wouldn't even go that far. My wife's Subaru was at the dealership for a warranty claim about a month ago, and I forgot something in there I needed to give to her son, so I just went over there after dark with the spare key and got what I needed and left.

Have had Tazer JL in my 2018 JLUR since 2019. Never a single issue. About a month ago I took it to the dealer for the first time since 2020 just to get a new FOB programmed.

Today I am preparing to do a gear swap up to 4:88s and now low and behold I have virtually no communication to the TAZER menu. It is as if it were not there at all.

No I didn't remove it (the Tazer)to go get the new FOB.

I am really in a fix at this point. No clue how to proceed. Do I need to replace the Tazer? if thats what I have to do fine. But I am very Leary to proceed without a knowledgeable course of action.
I hope Mr. Rhinebeck01
may know or others possibly. I'm dead in the murky water at this point.

I'd talk to the folks at Z Automotive and see what they say about it. If anybody can help you, they can.

Just a wild guess, until someone smarter comes along. It’s possible they did some sort of computer update to your Jeep, which they may not have told you about, but it should be on your receipt. If your Tazer was plugged in, this would result in the problem you described. Look at your Tazer manual, or go to the website. There is a way to recover it with a download, I believe.

I did not have the plug in live module plugged in but the one burried up in the dash was in place. I just updated the plug in on the Zautomotive site. I did send them a TEXT which is the only way I found to communicate to them so far.

I did see a selection on the software main page while downloading the updates that read "Recover". I was waiting to see what they might say back on the text before I went any further with plugging in the updated module. Damn I hate not knowing something.

I definitely appreciate your feed back. Even if I have to replace the Tazer, I don't care, I just need to proceed with the work I have laid out.

I also agree with that. They had a laptop plugged in, but nothing on the receipt about it that I can remember.

Boltz, I have one too, and I share your concern. Perhaps it’s a problem with the SGW bypass? I have the mini, which is just one piece, so this is outside of the range of my experience and knowledge. You could try another bypass module. Good luck, sir!

Brother let me tell you what. Funny thing about this older version of the Tazer JL (the two piece unit). Yes you can unplug the outer module and all settings remain (other than live settings of course) But to access the menus you do have to have it plugged in. It has been a while obviously so I forgot that was the case. I apologize for my brainless' moment. But sincerely appreciate you being helpful. I have no experience with the mini version and suspect it functions stand alone.

All is well and should have 4:88s and new synergy steering in by Sunday baring any more moments of "dense-ness".

The witech 2 software forces us to do software updates sometimes. It pops up with a map of all modules and color codes them with software versions so monkeys can’t mess it up. Some are labeled mandatory, others are suggested.
A new Tazer would fix the problem (if there was one).

Brother, that’s great to hear; thanks for the update!
