Which wire harness did you order?

Do you have any pictures of the install?
Can you post all the parts you used for this, model numbers and where you purchased them. I want to do this but don't know where to start.
I got this cheapo $10 flush mounted camera here: http://a.co/eKzGMuH

Video quality is meh, but it does the job and is cheap as all hell. I wired the camera to an aux switch for simplicity sake. Set the aux switch to accessory mode so the camera only gets juice when the vehicle is running.

The camera is mounted facing 45 degrees downward on my DV8 FS-15 bumper. I don't know how you'd do it with this camera on a stock bumper - as it would be facing straight forward. There are adjustable front cameras out there on Amazon that would work better.

I contacted a few companies that make programmers/wiring stuff for our Jeeps and managed to get a pre-release little video wire from the Tazer comany Z Automotive. They aren't released yet - but they are in the process of making them for resale.

I slotted the two wires from this AV cable into the Uconnect main harness on the back of the stereo. It's AUX 1 Video on this image below.

I used my Tazer programmer to enable the "cargo camera" - which is now selectable in the "backup camera" page in the Uconnect screen.

Does Aux 2 video allow for a 3rd camera? Also, where did you go through the firewall? Where did you get an extension for the camera wire? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm not very educated on wiring these kinds of things, so I have to learn so I can do this. Thanks for showing us what you did!

Great job simple, I can't believe how cheap the camera is.
Can you show the camera installed and the location of that uconnect harness.
Thanks

Hey GrimE, did you remove the hardtop to install the liners or just work around everything? Did you notice if they changed the sound of the stereo at all?

Put Hothead dark grey liners in. I thought it was quiet before, but I was wrong. It is super quiet now with the headliner and the sound assassin. It was also very simple to install.

I took out the bumper piece from sports last weekend, and today I cut out this piece to cover the back of fog light housing.

Can you post a pic of the front? I was thinking of doing the same.

That image showing Aux 1 and 2 is from a Tam truck I believe. So I do not believe aux video 2 is on the JL. I could be wrong.

I went through the firewall behind the glove box, and up a bit. There's a rubber grommet there. I believe it's where the Aux wires go for those that have them.

That cheap camera I went with had more than enough length to the cable.

JL specific? Looks identical to my JKU cover - worked great - not great in heavy rain but light rain / dirt / pollen / birds it was great

I can snap a picture of the camera in a bit. Assuming you drill the right size hole it sits in there flush. I started drilling a hole dead center on my bumper not realizing there's a support bracket right behind it. Lol. So I have a small hole offset from the camera now.

And the Uconnect harness is behind the stereo itself. It is the main large harness connected to the back size of the radio. Fairly easy to get back there, and there is a YouTube video showing how to remove the JL stereo.
