Now that I have an unexpected extra expense in my build (LED and rims will be $2700.00) I was thinking about deleting the tow package. I don’t tow anything but I do like the idea of having the heavy duty alternator and battery, along with the switches for auxiliary lighting, etc.

Is it worth it? If it matters, I am getting a JLUR with 2.0. Thanks!

I found that it was worth it to have the aux switches. Wiring for all my lights was a breeze. Who knows…maybe you’ll end up using the hitch for a bike rack or something.

that’s kinda along the lines I was thinking. I am just ticked the builder didn’t mention I had to have the LED package if I wanted the trail camera, not to mention the stock wheels are now 1000 bucks with no other option. That’s how they get you! I will probably end up keeping it as part of my build. I really like having switches already installed.

Installing a 2" receiver hitch is dead simple, vis-a-vis ever needing one for a bicycle rack.

As you've no plans to tow anything, the only decision here concerns whether or not you'll ever use the auxiliary switch panel (which is a labor-intensive installation) to control supplemental lighting and such down the line. If so, then the Tow Package is probably worth the expense.

I have the tow package and I'm glad I do. I do (occasionally) tow a small utility trailer (I've set it up for our kayaks) and I've added some cowl lights, mainly because it was simple to do with the aux switches.

I’m assuming you don’t want the stock Rubicon wheels? They have always been at no charge and I personally like them better than the $1000 upgrade. Don’t upgrade the wheels and get the Trailer Tow package. Not only do you get switches from the factory but you get a beefier alternator too.

If you're ever going to add electrical accessories, the 240 amp alternator is a great thing to have. All the electrical for the added current capacity is already in the vehicle with the tow package. Adding it later is a pain.

Get it. And wait, what? There is a $1000 charge for stock rims that come with the vehicle? Or are you choosing the upgraded rims? I honestly prefer the stock rim look over the upgraded rims.
Yep. Was told I have to order 1000 wheel option. When I looked at the description, it was the same as the 2022 stock non option rim.

That is for the stock wheels (which I like better, too). I don’t have any choice. It has to be ordered that way. Maybe it is a snafu in the ordering system? Basically, they have raised th price of a regular Rubicon by 1K.

To answer your original question: the tow pkg & HD electrical is worth it for the HD electrical part alone.

To your other dilemmas: the LED lighting package is definitely worth it as the stock halogens haven't changed since the '70s - they're awful.

Re: having to order x,y, &z, it may be more beneficial to find a more knowledgeable dealer from which to order.
