That sounds like rubbing trouble!
Stock, sure, but there are people that have ran 40s with 2" of lift and can cram the tires up in the fenders.

That’s great. I had no idea it was possible!

What is the distance from the garage floor to the door.
Also, check to see if the garage door opens all the way.

For reference, on the JLR, it has the 3.5 Inch RK T-Rex lift (long arm back, mid arm front). Running Dirty Life wheels on 37's. No clearance issues with either garage door.

78”. It’s an old house. Not very monster-truck friendly.

You'll need to account for any heavy add-ons (steel bumpers, rock rails, winch, heavy humans, etc...), so It's not quite as easy as basic math. But...all the stuff I just mentioned helps you dip even farther under the door.

Super helpful. Other than my fat ass and a pair of off-road lights, the rest of the Jeep is stock weight.

First make sure you adjusted your garage door to the maximum opening, and see if any trim around the door can be easily tweaked to give more room, measure again with an empty fuel tank and totally empty Jeep. That is what you have to work with.

Second decide what tire size you want to run e.g. 35" KO2s are like 34s and 37" KO2s are like 36s (@30PSI). Nittos/Toyos 35s and 37s are, well 35s and 37s. Halve the increase from your current tire is what you will go up on tires alone.

Then decide how heavy your vehicle will be (bumpers, winch, minimum off-road gear and tools you keep on, etc).

Most 2" lifts will raise most heavy Jeeps by 2.5" and lighter Jeeps by 3.0".

If you are in doubt, go for a 2" lift and spend $50 for 0.75" spacer pucks. You can use the pucks on front or rear to level or all the way around to raise the whole vehicle another .75".

Use the pucks to fine tune in case you want a little more lift and still have the clearance.

In my case, (I have a very heavy - 5,400 lbs 4 door). I did 37" KO2s, Mopar 2" lift with .75" pucks all around and went up exactly 5".

On the previous Jeep (JKUR heavy) I did AEV2.5" and .75" pucks only in the front and 35" tires to go up 4.25" level.

Good luck.

P.S. If you are going to do work on your Jeep in your garage, make sure you can raise it enough to do work on it, without hitting anything. You need bare minimum a foot.

What’s your current low point? If it’s the bottom channel of the door, you may be able to get a couple inches from adjusting the
opener to lift it further.

Reminder, if you live where it snows a drift can make a bump you have to go over.

All great advice. Thanks so much! I forgot about being able to work on the Jeep in the garage too! ???

I have to research how to raise the opener now!

Good way to make sure you always have a full tank of gas when you get home.

Almost 30 yrs ago a buddy and I put a lift on a truck in his parents garage. Had to let all the air out of tires and only cleared by 1/2 inch we still laugh about it. So good for you for measuring!
