I need to find an easy place on the "lower dash" area to install (2) 19mm round switches. I did not get the aux switch in my new 4xe Sahara. Was initially thinking left of the steering column but the driving mode switches are there. One will be for rock lights the other for light bar and I won't be putting anything else on it so I don't really need a vos-switch or similar $200+ option with 6+ switches.

Will be pulling the driver panel off at some point but wondering if anyone has already done so and knows where there is enough room around there to mount the switches plus be within reach of the driver.

Or any other cheaper switch options.

I’m still playing with the idea of ordering the Mopar Aux switches and just putting the PDC somewhere else since it won’t fit.

In the meantime, the fogs are useless so I just tapped the circuit and ran my Pro6s off of it. Both the fogs and Pro6s turn on when I push the fog button.

Edit: Also each fog is controlled separately, so I used each circuit, that way I can wag them with the Tazer light show.

You have the little pocket down on the right? There are remote control options that use relays.
This is just one example...

Before I got the Voswitch, this was my solution.

The Voswitch is more than a switch bank. It’s a computer controlled relay system. The neat thing about it is there’s a single small computer cable that comes out of the switch pod instead of a bundle of wires. Each switch has its own relay, fuse, and the first 4 switches are programmable. Well made unit, clean install. It’s pricey if you look at it as just a switch pod, but for what you get it’s a good kit.

That is an interesting option. Looks like the relays are 20 amp. Could hide that anywhere.
You can find 30 amp or add your own relays to it too. Just an idea.

Makes me wonder if there’s a way to use the extra garage door buttons to trigger a wireless board like that remote.

The garage door opener operates between 300-390 MHz. I believe the wireless switch pods are Bluetooth, which is in the 2.45 GHz range.

I had a similar problem trying to find a spot to mount my remote inverter switch from Renogy (the thing is HUGE).

I chose the plastic panel that covers the steering column.

Pros
  • Pops right off
  • Plenty of room behind the panel

Cons
  • Switch is out of sight, and harder to reach
  • Plastic is two layer, corrugated, pain in the butt for Dremel work. However, for a smaller light switch(es), you could pick a spot that doesn’t have the two layers. My switch was so large, I was stuck in that spot.

Here’s another idea:

If you don’t mind giving up that useless pocket (and a couple of Jacksons from your wallet), you could grab this 3D printed panel from Etsy. It’s shown below with switches, but you can buy the blank panel for $40.

And here’s the cheaper half-panel option - if you can find a half pocket for the other side (or maybe just cut your existing full pocket in half?):

Looked at this, he is on the forum in a thread as well. I reached out to him. It might end up being what I do but was hoping not to tear my center stack apart in this jeep :)

Just ordered one. Need to confirm hole sizing (I ordered without switches), but I've used similar switches on my golf cart that turned out great. They're available with brushed finishes with various lit diagramming.
